Wavell Hinds and Xavier Marshall both play for Jamaica so....and then there's Chris Gayle plus the current openers have both been scoring runs, Donovan Pagon and Brenton Parchment.David Bernard is going okay too but his no-ball problem is his demise.Daren Powell looks like getting a recall and Baugh is doing well.Jerome Taylor got injured again but Dwight Washington's doing ok in his stead and Tamar Lambert's been batting ok and lead them to four straight wins so could be difficult in making him give up the captaincy for Wavell.

Good to see Lendl Simmons and Dinesh Ramdin making some runs.Omari Banks needs to improve his performances though.

To go from winning the Champions Trophy to finishing 3rd - with 1 win - in a triangular tournament feels pretty deflating to me. It's certainly not a success, despite the positives you list above with which I broadly agree (though Shiv and Sars lost a lot of credit for not finishing the job in the last game).
My point was more that the West Indies did not play all that poorly overall. That is, we've lost matches before and looked far worse in them than we did in Australia.

I agree that Wavell will probably start, but it will almost be a case of being there by default because there's no realistic competition (unless Marshall makes a lot of runs for Jamaica).
It's unfortunate that Devon Smith seems in terrible form atm, because I believe he has a future at the highest level.

Presumably, you'd play Bravo as one of four bowlers (batting at 7 or 8) and ask Gayle/Sars to bowl a fair number of overs?
I'd be hesitant to play him as a bowler, but I can't see how he can be left out. He was by far the best West Indian bowler in England.

Do you think there are any specialist spinners worth picking at this stage?
I can't think of any who is truly up for it atm.

I'm also leaning towards Baugh (though he looked awful in South Africa), but good to see Ramdin getting a score against Jamaica.
Baugh is really starting to look in good touch.

Hmmm.... Parchment has one score and two failures in 3 innings from memory. Pagon has been better, but aside from his unbeaten hundred and half-century in the current game, he's averaged in the low 20s I believe.

I'm far from convinced about him.

I'm almost certain Powell will be back this season. He's not only bowling well, but his batting has been very impressive too. He said in an interview that before the season some of his friends commented that he can bat, so he decided to take more time in the nets. Results show some very useful scores, including a maiden FC half-century.

Is it just looks being deceiving, or is Tamar Lambert quite unfit?

I'd say this would be the current West Indies Test team or what i want.

Gayle
Hinds
Sarwan
Lara
Chanderpaul
Samuels
Baugh
Bravo
Powell
Collymore/Bennett
Collins
What exactly has Samuels done to walk back into the Test team?

Brenton Parchment and Dwayne Smith may be possibilities too. That's how substandard the batting's been. Also, Sylvester Joseph and Tamar Lambert, both young captains.
If one of Parchment or Lambert is called up, I'll eat something inedible.

Dave Mohammed is far from in form! He took one haul of 7/49 (just to make Halsey look silly) and has been quite poor otherwise.
:-O How dare you insult Dave! :@

Huh?

You're an enigma. You don't make sense on so many different levels.

T&T lost to Jamaica today. No real surprise there. Very unlucky in the end though T&T. Sherwin Ganga had his face smashed and needs surgery, so he couldn't bat. Shazam Babwah started the game but didn't get to bat at all because his father died on day one and he returned home immediately. Imran Jan was injured in the field I believe. So basically we lost 3 of our specialist batsmen by the second innings. Quite remarkable.

Enigma? I like that

What i mean is that there is no Quality in West Indies cricket at the Moment as many of the test players do not play.... and you have no overseas starts

that is my Point?

1. The Test players do play when they are available. Get informed.
2. I don't think the reason that West Indian players don't generally get County contracts is due to lack of quality.
3. Are you asking me if that's your point?

They can't play when they are on international duty.Doesn't that make sense?Geez!Come the next round you'll find the Test players playing for their respective teams.Oh yeah and some of the players do get county contracts. They might not be the big clubs but they do get signed.Happens mainly in the club season for the different territories.

Jamaica march on Roseboy! Do you think they'll be disrupted by the return of the international players?

Overall, the standard of play seems to have picked up. Sounds like a terrific 4th innings batting performance by Guyana to hand Barbados a 4th straight loss and good to see Devon Smith return to form to lead the Windwards to victory against the Leewards.

By the way, have you seen anything of Nikita Miller? On the face of it he seems to be having a sensational season, but none of the reports I've read shed much light on how well he's actually bowling.
