Dwayne Smith partnered Sherwin Campbell for 113 runs in the second Bajan innings. Smith scored 93 of the runs. He reached 50 off 31 balls and 93 off 79 balls. 9 fours and 6 sixes.
......and then got out slogging!

I know you're not advocating this, but I still wouldn't have him anywhere near the test side this season, though I might consider him for the one dayers.

Around the region, Ryan Ramdass (142) scored his third career FC hundred - all this year (in his last 4 games I think). Narsingh Deonarine (107 not out) also among the runs again, whilst Sewnarine Chattergoon (77) got a score too. Very promisingly, Ryan Hinds scored 111 out of Barbados' 225 all out. Dwayne Smith (19) was the next highest scorer. The word is that Fidel Edwards (2/78) is bowling with very impressive pace and spirit. Sylvester Joseph scored 49 to follow on from his first innings ton.

Deonarine, Ramdass, Kelly, Baugh, Ramdin, Mohammed, Jacobs, Cornwall, Butler, Peters, Daren Powell and Jerome Taylor all have good chances of featuring in the international side this season.
Some very encouraging performances and the selection picture has been freshened nicely, but I'd still be reluctant to pick youngsters like Ramdass and Kelly on the basis of one good season.

I'd also suggest we need to be very careful with Taylor's re-integration into the international scene. It sounds like he's bowling as well as anyone, but I understand he's sticking to short (4 over max?) spells and should perhaps only be considered for ODIs this season. Windies certainly shouldn't consider playing Taylor and Bravo as specialist bowlers in the same test team.

I think Ryan Hinds and Narsingh Deonarine are the leading contenders for the vacant middle order spot, though both may miss out to accommodate W Hinds if anyone of Devon Smith, Ramdass, Joseph or Marshall force their way into the opener slot.

Dwayne Smith intrigues me. I'm a fan of his talent, but as you say, he's not near Test class... yet.

Ramdass I agree on, but I may be inclined to give Kelly a run in ODIs if he holds his form for the rest of the season. This due to his success in the regional OD tournament last year. Basically, he hasn't put a foot wrong yet since getting the call. Not ready for Tests though, as his batting isn't up to scratch.

Agreed. I think Bravo had too big a workload last summer in England. He was forced to lead the attack in his first series, which he entered as an allrounder! That's massive stress, and now he's injured surely as some result of it.

I wouldn't allow Marshall into Test cricket yet. Devon Smith I'd say is the leading contender for the 6th batsman, but he needs at least one more big score this season. Sylvester Joseph found form in the last game for the Leewards, but needs big runs to finish the season for my money.

I was talking more about a reluctance to rush them into the test picture and, from memory, Kelly also had a good regional one-day tourney, so I wouldn't mind seeing him in the ODI arena. From what I can gather, Ramdass may be more suited to test cricket.

A worrying number of single finger scores for Devon this season, but I agree - he's just about in my test team at the moment.

I think Ryan Hinds, if he makes a couple more scores, could grab the number 6 spot in Guyana. BK seems to be a fan and his bowling may swing it if Taylor and/or Bravo are among the specialist bowlers (i.e. if we need a lot of work from the 5th bowler).

Ryan Hinds has looked solid in his limited opportunities this season, which is a good sign. Devon Smith is clearly a man out of form, but he has shown before that he's the kind of player who needs a couple of good innings in a row to go on a tear.

Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Jermaine Lawson and Gareth Breese look set to make their returns to the game. Tino best too and Ian Bradshaw but Bennett gets left out.

Runako Morton striking 104 against T&T today. Makes things interesting.
Wavell Hinds was 72 not out at tea against Barbados.
Devon Smith was 79 not out at tea against Guyana.

Very interesting indeed.

Today, from what I've pieced together...

Banks bowling extremely ordinarily.
Ganga onto a century and playing extremely confidently and positively. Terrific reviews of the innings. In his finest form.
Ricardo Powell blazed to 61 earlier.
Ramdin just out for short of a 50.
Wavell Hinds 153.
Dave Bernard jr. 53 not out at lunch. He got out some time in the post-lunch session.
Gareth Breese 51 not out at tea.
Old Rawl Lewis 82.
Ramnaresh Sarwan apparently dominated the Leewards bowling on his way to 50, including 10 fours.

And, despite his repeated failures at the highest level, every chance of making the test team if the dispute isn't resolved. The 22 invitees to training camp are:

Devon Smith, Wavell Hinds, Ryan Ramdass, Darren Ganga, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ryan Hinds, Narsingh Deonarine, Darren Sammy, Donavon Pagon, Carlton Baugh Jr., Courtney Browne, Xavier Marshall, Denesh Ramdin, Ian Bradshaw, Dave Mohammed, Pedro Collins, Corey Collymore, Dwight Washington, Reon King, Darren Powell, Jerome Taylor, Tino Best.

Ridley, presumably, isn't available. Dwight Washington and Ian Bradshaw surprise selections ahead of the likes of Kelly, Jeremy, Simon, Butler, Bennett. Can't see Ian Bradshaw making any impact in test cricket. Samuels, perhaps, a surprise omission.

Despite the fact that I think the C&W players will return and, if not, some of the above will refuse to play; I can't resist putting forward a team:

1. Smith
2. W Hinds
3. Ganga (aargghh!!)
4. Deonarine
5. Shiv
6. R Hinds
7. Ramdin
8. Mohammed
9. Powell
10. Collins
11. King

Series result: 4-0 to South Africa.

As frustrated as I have been by Ganga, I must admit that he is still quite a young man and has every chance of improving.

Ryan Hinds scored 82 for Barbados. Legspinner Odean Brown took 5 Bajan wickets.

Chanderpaul 71 not out. Nagamootoo 31 not out.

Yesterday...

Marlon Samuels scored 76. He seems to be very willing to score runs now that he's been left out of the Test match 22-man squad.

Possibly the future West Indies captain (yeck), Chanderpaul 125 not out. Butler took 3/73.

And apparently, with a couple of overs to survive against Jamaica last night, Dwayne-The Brain-Smith came out slogging and was lucky to survive.

Overall though, good to see a number of teams putting big runs on the board as the tournament progresses.

I wouldn't have Daren Ganga in a first-choice test squad (though me might sneak into my 22), but sounds like a terrific knock (albeit against a weakened attack).

I await the outcome of tonight's meeeting with bated breath.

I think the West Indies team should appoint a psychologist.A hgood one this time. Jamaica did and they just won the Carib Cup.
