Im not to worried.

McGill is a fantastic Leg Spin Bowler I would go as far as to say he could have 300 test wickets by now if Warne did not exist.

McGill is the biggest spinner of the ball world wide his stock Leg Brake is better than Warnes simpily because it spinns so so much. (of couse he has not got the controll or variation of Warne)

McGill is expensive in ODI matches but he takes a **** load of wickets in them.

macgill is expensive because quite often he bowls his 10 overs straight from overs 30-50. his economy rate is about 5.1 which isnt that bad considering where he bowls.

Well Australia already has two bowlers that are expensive, one is LEE and the other is Watson. So if a third bowler also concedes many runs then it would be a problem for the Aussies.
I think Aus should go for Hauritz, he's a good offspinner and is also a handy batsmen.

6 weeks looks like he will be out for, but id be surprise iof MacGill doesnt go as back up anyway now. It too big of a raisk taking an injured player to a world cup with no back up.

Only because they haven't needed him!

Unlike the Indian side that has 4 specialist bowlers, and on any one day 3 of them are likely to be expensive in addition to cobbling together 10 overs from part-timers!

Personally I can't see him going to the World Cup, especially if it's likely to be a risk to his long term prospects.

Having said that, GB's signature's likely to remain static for a long time!

But this does show that they do not have to rely on him all the time.

Hmmm.....

Well, I suppose one upside to this whole saga is that it now gives MacGill a chance to reach 100 wickets (he's on 82). And he's bound to get a bag at the SCG if he plays (unlucky that Warne will miss his shot at his 500th... :wow:).

In terms of the World Cup, yeah, some interesting points put forward. Do they take both Warne and MacGill if Warne's not 100%. Can they afford to 'carry' an injured player? Can't Lehmann fill the void and add an extra bowler (or all-rounder - i.e. Greg Blewett, Steve Waugh??). However, a comment was made on Baggygreen which said that Australia's batting would also be weaker without Warne (which is, in part, true). Fielding is another, yet minor, issue.

However, I must say that this side still looks mighty strong...

Batting looks VERY strong still, but the bowling weak. Only 3 real bowlers in there (I know that's usually enough for Australia but it would be a gamble and could backfire).

Blewett Is never going to be any good as a low/lower middle order batsman ether.

Its not that he cant slog but unless he is well set hes not likly to set the world on fire.

I would like to see Australia use Brett Lee as a pinch hitter a bit he is no joke a huge hitter of a cricket ball especialy against the fast bowlers.

Anyone see the six he hit in the icc knockout match a year ago that went so far out of the ground it broke a car window in the parking lot of a supermarket lol. (If you saw it I bet you would have almost died of shock it was that big)

Dont know what made me start taliking about Lee ??

Australia had a problem with their fifth bowler, with that team I see something wrong with the fourth as well..You will have to replace warne with a good attacking bowler. Blewett is hardly that ?

Bazza

My point exactly Gotcha. With that team Australia would be easy targets for more competitive nations such as South Africa.

I like to see Blewett replace Watson. Maybe Watson is talented but he hasn't done anything to warrant a place. Blewett has more pace than Watson and is a much better batsman than him. And also as he is bowling regularly this season his bowling would have improved. Bichel should replace Warne. Lehmann can always bowl some spin.
