But dominated at Home. And I have previously said why I don't care that much for his Australia Away.
Australia was the best team of the era and India the best batting lineup against spin. So we have to care about his performance in those countries.

Game's changed immeasurably since then though. Even assuming a Test-spamming nation like England continues playing as many Tests as they do, it's hard to imagine someone of the quality and endurance of an Anderson or Broad getting the chance to hone their skills in first-class cricket. For the rest of the world, 500, if not way less than that, might be the absolute new cap.

Both those batting lineups were bossed at home. I can understand hin struggling in Australia, but struggle in India is the odd one. The same Indian batting lineups were demolished in very similar pitch conditions in SL.

I’m sure people thought that about Tendulkar
If Cook didn’t retire at the very young age of 33, he could have easily broken Sachin’s record and Root is all but certain to break the record.

15 years since his retirement and no one has come close to breaking Muttiah Muralitharan’s record.

Yet. Records have been held for far longer and then been broken.

Sure Murali was uber at home. But to me adaptability and succeeding against the best is very important.

Ashwin might have got close to Murali if Jadeja hadn't around at the same time.

Gets to 650 wickets instead of 537 and then decides to keep on playing to chase the record.

Over a reasonable amount of tests for me at least 5, Viv was reasonable in all conditions. Murali not so much as mentioned b4 in India and Australia. But still all those 10 fors and 800 wkts are hard to ignore. I'll sit this one out.

He has adapted to many other countries. It’s just one or two more that he didn’t so I don’t think adaptability is a problem. Vic sucked in NZ and we aren’t going to equation his adaptability. But being bad against the best team is not a good look though so that should be taken into account.
Also by the same measure he can’t be top 10 bowler with that kind of record vs the best team.

On a similar note, people tend to overlook McGrath not being ATG vs SA who were the best batting he faced in his time. SA were nowhere near Aus batting line up.

When we talk about Anderson legacy then most of people talks about his performance against top teams and how he was bad against top teams
But Shane Warne and Murali also failed against Best team but how they are still getting ATG hype but not Anderson?

I mean generally those who performs against india only gets hype.
