Yes he was. No denying that. But against the two best batting lineups away he suffered.A total lie. Murali was ATG in England, South Africa, New Zealand, Pakistan and WI.

But dominated at Home. And I have previously said why I don't care that much for his Australia Away.Yes he was. No denying that. But against the two best batting lineups away he suffered.
1. Tests are going to played a lot less in futureAn English spinner I presume. Similar to Anderson vs McGrath.
Never say never1. Tests are going to played a lot less in future
2. The chances of finding someone like Murali is rare
Australia was the best team of the era and India the best batting lineup against spin. So we have to care about his performance in those countries. But dominated at Home. And I have previously said why I don't care that much for his Australia Away.
I just don’t see 800 wickets ever being broken.Never say never
I’m sure people thought that about TendulkarI just don’t see 800 wickets ever being broken.
Both those batting lineups were bossed at home. I can understand hin struggling in Australia, but struggle in India is the odd one. The same Indian batting lineups were demolished in very similar pitch conditions in SL.Australia was the best team of the era and India the best batting lineup against spin. If Cook didn’t retire at the very young age of 33, he could have easily broken Sachin’s record and Root is all but certain to break the record.I’m sure people thought that about Tendulkar
Yet. Records have been held for far longer and then been broken. If Cook didn’t retire at the very young age of 33, he could have easily broken Sachin’s record and Root is all but certain to break the record.
15 years since his retirement and no one has come close to breaking Muttiah Muralitharan’s record.
Sure Murali was uber at home. But to me adaptability and succeeding against the best is very important. Both those batting lineups were bossed at home. If Eng somehow produce a Rabada type destructive bowler, then it is possible. It may happen but I do not think it will.
He has adapted to many other countries. It’s just one or two more that he didn’t so I don’t think adaptability is a problem. Vic sucked in NZ and we aren’t going to equation his adaptability. But being bad against the best team is not a good look though so that should be taken into account.Sure Murali was uber at home. But to me adaptability and succeeding against the best is very important.
