Yea I mean the fact that he could average 35 in his debut Test series against a Pakistan attack that consisted of Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Abdul Qadir and Waqar Younis at the age of 16 is pretty bonkers too. All flat pitches tho, TBF, but he averaged more than Shastri and Sidhu did while he was basically a child.

Kohli avg was less than 50 for 90% of the career.

Declining Sachin's stats clearly better than sensational Kohli's. At least on paper.
Kohli 49/50 avg at 85 or so strike rate
Sachin 48/49 avg at 90 plus strike rate

Sachin was scoring 100s in every 6.5 matches during that period compared to kohli's 7.5

Another Fact,
When sachin was 28yrs old he was 165% better than previous International century aggregate.
Kohli almost 30, just 58 % of current record. I know its not a proper comparison.. Still

Sachin is widely seen to be the second greatest batsman of all time and has a statistical body of work and longevity that is near impossible for anyone to match.

If Virat Kohli is not seen as exactly in his league, that's hardly and insult and doesn't take away from his accomplishments in any way.

This is someone who will likely finish with 40 100s and a spectacular conversion rate, who is a match winning captain of a number one side, who has set the bar in self discipline and self improvement.

Kohli is on a path to be the second greatest Indian test batsman and is already in the Tendulkar / Gavaskar / David pantheon. Probably will end his career as a top 20 all time batsman if not top 10.

No need to compare him to Tendulkar.

I'm not entirely convinced that he would never even try if he thought he could get away with it.
Captains would be a lot more wary about being caught cheating now; after three cheats (Faf, Smith and Chandimal) got caught in quick succession.

You should follow more closely. Smith didn't do anything directly, unlike Faf and Chandimal. Just happened to be captain of the team at the time. I'm still not even convinced he knew anything about it until after it happened.

I'd put the blame 80% Warner/20% Bancroft.

Smith and Lehmann rightly get some blame for being weak leaders though

2nd greatest indian test batsman is Sachin. 3rd is Dravid. I can see Kohli equaling or over taking Dravid. Sachin and Gavaskar is on a different league.
