This showcase was actually posted 3 years ago, but seems as good a tribute to the man than anything else of seen in the last 48 hours;

Says a lot about the sort of man Walker was that making to the top level of two things he tried his hand at were only parts of his life story. Had a lot of World's Most Interesting Man about him outside the arena, one of those guys where you're more likely to celebrate his life than mourn his death, really.
Yup, also a qualified architect IIRC, as well as playing league football and Test cricket. Then there's the media career.

Great third banana in an attack, and someone who everyone seems to have enjoyed the company of. One of the nice things over the past few days is hearing employees at Channel Nine, even at the lowest level at the time, talking about how much time Max had for them.

Yeah, first I'd read an Aussie writing about it before that was Geoff Lawson talking about Irish swing in his 1989 Ashes tour diary. It sounds from the way Chappell describes it that it was a pretty well known phenomenon back then (I mean, they had a name for it) but they didn't really know how to go about making it happen, if it did it was a bit of a bonus and they went with it.
