Top 50 Greatest test batters

DrWolverine

International Vice-Captain
Lillee played 3 Tests against India.
Gavaskar did not play the WSC.
Did they play some unofficial games?

Johan

International Coach
Gavaskar represented and opened for World XI in 1971-72 against Lillee, it's the famous series where Sobers made 254* against Peak Lillee.

Johan

International Coach

Lillee was unplayable here, 8-29 against Sunil Gavaskar, Rohan Kanhai, Zaheer Abbas, Tony Greig, Clive Lloyd and Garfield Sobers is just stupid.

Dennis Lillee’s reputation was a fast bowler of blistering pace and fiery aggression is unmatched by a bowler to this day - A cricketing superstar.

Fanboy375

U19 Debutant
Does anyone have any info what what was average batting average during Hobbs time in English first class cricket

BazBall21

International Captain
Gower is nowhere near Chappell in Aus. If you meant Chappell in Eng, honestly it's not a big difference. Both mixed records but essentially par.

Gowers Pak tour was against a weak attack without Imran.

Gower with tests, yes is better in WI. With WSC, it's Chappell.
Qadir was efficient at home and Gower nailed him there.

International Debutant
Yeah, Ken Barrington >>>>>> Rahul Dravid, averages 64 against Australia while Dravid averages 38
Australia wasn’t as dominant in Barrington’s time and English players are judged only on their Ashes performances

Bloke at the other end was sharpish

"Sometimes he hit the bat before the bat was ready to hit the ball. You know, the ball would hit the bat and you'd be like 'My gosh, what was that?' and it's hit the splice and gone."
- Dennis Amiss

I can't imagine being good enough to be a test match opener and facing someone who's too quick to physically cope with.

It’s just 3 Tests and 5 innings. One series. A very low sample size.

It is not like Brian Lara failing to score even a single century against Allan Donald despite playing 10 Tests across multiple series over the years.
Or Joe root in Australia
