Fair enough but again it's not like Chappell failed in Pak in 79/80 and we are only comparing three tests each. Gower also didn't do as well in India. He made runs there on genuine turners unlike Chappell.
He played one Great inning against him. Still it's him in NZ.No you are wrong. He played Hadlee in 82 and scored well against him.
One innings is why we consider Lara in Aus in 2005 a very good series, no?it's just one inning.
Yes and that is one great innings in NZ against prime Hadlee that Gavaskar doesn't have.He played one Great inning against him. Still it's him in NZ.
How many Chappell has to Imran in Pakistan again??Yes and that is one great innings in NZ against prime Hadlee that Gavaskar doesn't have.
I dont tbhOne innings is why we consider Lara in Aus in 2005 a very good series, no?
No? I don't consider either Lara 2005 or Sachin 2003 "very good"One innings is why we consider Lara in Aus in 2005 a very good series, no?
Why is it easy? Gowers only really great series there was with the worst Aus attack, otherwise it's fairly good like Chappell. When comparing away records, I usually go to the opponent's home wickets, IE It would be Gower in Australia vs Chappell in England, and Gower easily wins that.
I mean that's fine but that's just two tests. Scored well against Imran at home though. How many Chappell has to Imran in Pakistan again??
I get that. How would you rate his 2005 series then?I dont tbh
5 points higher average, 4 points higher output, more hundredsWhy is it easy? Gowers only really great series there was with the worst Aus attack, otherwise it's fairly good like Chappell.
Gavaskar has a very fine Series to Hadlee at Home, and his bad tour was of 3 matches as well. In the earlier Series he scored a ton, a 70 (Hadlee played) and batted a single innings being absent hurt in the 2nd.I mean that's fine but that's just two tests. Scored well against Imran at home though.
Decent, but unlucky. Think he was sawn off a few times. I wouldn't call it a great or very good series but also not a failure considering the circumstances of the decisions he got.I get that. How would you rate his 2005 series then?
Gavaskars successes were against early career Hadlee before he became the fast medium maestro. We have gone over this.Gavaskar has a very fine Series to Hadlee at Home, and his bad tour was of 3 matches as well. In the earlier Series he scored a ton, a 70 (Hadlee played) and batted a single innings being absent hurt in the 2nd.
Yes. And his failures was against a Hadlee who was having a mid Series. And that innings of Greg also came before Hadlee was true ATG. If you want to big it up and say it's enough to be better away, fine igGavaskars successes were against early career Hadlee before he became the fast medium maestro. We have gone over this.
Sunny faced fast medium maestro just 5 times.Gavaskars successes were against early career Hadlee before he became the fast medium maestro.
Does 1930s NZ even count?Otherwise it is just Australia and one series in 1920s SA?Sutcliffe is better away from home than all of them.
