Starc has been solid since 21/22 Ashes tbf. Incidentally that was the point Cummins took over so there might be an effect from that but the main change was obviously the wobble ball that he developed bowling so he has something to fall back on to when the swing stops conventionally and no reverse on offer. Also credit to him for pulling through tests all this far with all the t20 money he could have made

That being said, there were times before 21/22 where he was god awful at times. As mentioned, his performances were very influential to Aust in both BGTs they lost at home and not in a good way. Him missing out usual coincided with Lyon being ineffective rendering Aust to basically a 2 man attack getting busted.

Overall I don't know where he is. Probably worse than Johnson

Lee is barely top 15

Edit: Assuming we're talking about Tests. ODIs Lee is top 2 or 3.

Ted...... Was Great. Was rated as one of the best Inter War pacers, Great FC record. Don rated him and Lindwall as equally Australia's Greatest.
Great FC record true. But I'm not taking that and Don's word to put him top 20 for me. He has a limited 1 year test record, which is poor. And never plays for Australia again. Can't place him above guys like Lee for me.
I wouldn't have Lee top 15 too though. You wouldn't have him top 20 too I'm guessing, even if you remove McDonald (you put up a list of 21, and not 20)

Lee himself was mid in Tests except a small peak. And not only Don's words, Ted was compared fondly with the likes of Larwood back then. He and Gregory are ahead for me, probs Hughes as well but that's very debatable.

Edgar McDonald?
He can't be that high up surely?
Don rated him very high

Found him one of the bowlers actually difficult to face even for him, very high general reputation. Weird career though, had his breakthrough series in England in 1921 and then immediately stopped playing.

Lee became better when he remodeled his action around 2004/05 while he was out of the test side. Improved his accuracy while generating good out swing
