C'mon mate- Sachin DOES do stuff differently than Lara.Benny2k1 said:Totally agreed soon as anything is said against lara you get people saying "sachin would have done it differently"
he did quit and he did supposedly threaten that if Azhar was selected, he would make him 12th man. Everyone has their frustrations as captains, you know, esp. when it is guys as talented as Sachin and Lara. I honestly don't see why Windies selectors didn't pick either an out and out fast bowler or a specialist spinner. Almost all of Lara's points make sense and if he is dissatisfied with the selectors, he is well within his rights to lash out. If they don't care abt him, why should he care abt them? AFAIC, he is only saying the truth here. I don't agree with his words on manipulating selection committees, that is wrong. But the rest of what he had said makes a lot of sense and I don't think u can slam him because these pleas he has been making for a month now and the selectors have let him down everytime. what else was he expected to do?silentstriker said:But was it the proper forum for his grievances? Same selection crap happened to Tendulkar (and a lot of other indian captains) when he was captain (selectors worked against him), but he didn't lash out like this.
Cozier is wrong. IMO.silentstriker said:Yes, but the real question is: Is Coziar correct or was lara justified in doing what he did?
How is Sabina Park better than Mumbai? Both pitches turned a mile on the first day itself. Had Australia been playing on this pitch, no matter who the opposition is, I think u would have seen a result in 2 days.tooextracool said:i dont have problems with the sabina park pitch, but in terms of home advantage the pitch that he got was certainly not what he should have got.
As far as the other pitches are concerned i think they were all pretty flat with nothing in them for the bowlers, and it was only some very poor batting that resulted in 'nearly games'
Sorry, i dont see how it is McGrath's fault for that tete a tete.honestbharani said:tete a tete with McGrath was McGrath's fault. I agree that he is more open with his emotions than Sachin, but he is nowhere near the spoilt brat u seem to portray him to be. Def not since 99.
i never said that i had problems with the mumbai pitch either, merely with pontings attitude towards it.honestbharani said:How is Sabina Park better than Mumbai? i think when you're relying on uneven bounce on the last day for a result, then the pitch can never be said to be a good one. You can only look at the pitch on the first few days, and if you ask me for all 5 days it was pretty flat.silentstriker said:I'm not so sure about that. Most of the pitches were good batting pitches on the 1st day, but after that lots of bounce and LBW's and such came into play. The only exception I think was the 3rd test pitch, where it still remained a good batting pitch on the 5th day.
Please watch Sachin's Interviews as captain.C_C said:C'mon mate- Sachin DOES do stuff differently than Lara.
Compare and contrast- Lara has thrown in 'petulant child' behaviour quite often through his career. This latest outburst, fighting with the umpire, tete-tete with McGrath, 'cricket is ruining my life', taking off mid-tour because he didnt like things, etc etc. Sachin on the other hand, has always handled pressure remarkably and has always stayed away from controversy/acted as a paragon of decency on and off the pitch.

Yeah and these fanatics conveniently forgot that it was the same Tendulkar that was caught Ball Tampering. It was same Tendulkar that asked Mcgrath to **** Off after hitting him for a six or something (2000 ICC KO trophy, Yuvraj singh's Debut game). It was the same Tendulkar that unfairly tried to get a tax exemption for his Ferrari.Benny2k1 said:Thats what annoys alot of people about Sachins "followers" totally biased towards sachin and if any one looks like breaking any of his records they get all defensive and portray him as some kinda god.
Again he is A great player but he is as not as god like as you think!
I don't believe that was his intention then.Sanz said:Yeah and these fanatics conveniently forgot that it was the same Tendulkar that was caught Ball Tampering.
I don't remember this, but even if it happened, so what? Most people say far worse, and I think its all part of the game anyway. Harbhajan recently said that to an English player, and I'm OK with that (as long as you wont whine if it happens to you). Out in the middle, away from the media, I think you should use every advantage you can get.Sanz said:It was same Tendulkar that asked Mcgrath to **** Off after hitting him for a six or something (2000 ICC KO trophy, Yuvraj singh's Debut game).
Finally, you said something right. Though I think it shouldn't be in Mumbai, because then it would be hard for me to visit.Sanz said:But wait..None of these are his fault, He is such a GOD. Let's make a Shrine and put a statute and start worshipping LORD SACHIN TENDULKAR.
No one said he is a God- what i did say is that Sachin has always conducted himself with grace, modesty and class both on and off the field- the same cannot be said about Lara and i do like the nice -n- quiet types who go about their business ( Tendulkar, Malcolm Marshall etc.) over the loud boistrous ones who cross the limits of decency sometimes ( Lillee, Lara, etc).Benny2k1 said:Thats what annoys alot of people about Sachins "followers" totally biased towards sachin and if any one looks like breaking any of his records they get all defensive and portray him as some kinda god.

Ofcourse, I dont expect you to.silentstriker said:I don't believe that was his intention then.
Ofcourse you done remember, and I do know what most people say, but Tendulkar is above most people, he is GOD. He shouldn't be saying such a thing, he is so pure. He wasn't even provoked and that was the only day Mcgrath looked like an angel on a cricket field and Tendulkar looked like Mcgratth.I don't remember this, but even if it happened, so what? Most people say far worse, and I think its all part of the game anyway.
Urgh !! Harbhajan isn't the GOD, who can do no wrong. So Please dont bring what Bhajji said to whoever. I dont understand when and how using foul language against an opposition player can get you any advantage. Besides do you really expect your GOD to mouth **** Off just because the opposition bowler had gotten better off you ?Harbhajan recently said that to an English player, and I'm OK with that (as long as you wont whine if it happens to you). Out in the middle, away from the media, I think you should use every advantage you can get.
Whether or not Mcgrath has a clean reputation isn't really the discussion here, On that day Mcgrath didn't provoke sachin and I know it because I watched the game.Besides McGrath doesn't exactly have a clean reputation when it comes to losing temper either.....
Yes, and I'm asking whats the big deal about it?Sanz said:Whether or not Mcgrath has a clean reputation isn't really the discussion here, On that day Mcgrath didn't provoke sachin and I know it because I watched the game.
No Big Deal but then dont say that His Highness-Sir-Lord-Sachin-Ramesh-Tendulkar is GOD and so much better than Lara.silentstriker said:Yes, and I'm asking whats the big deal about it?
