The Records and Milestones thread

Victor Ian

International Coach
It is not absurd. The game has changed. In 20 years you will look back and realise how pathetic it was. Kholi will be looked at as a piece of **** who is never mentioned like the slow, useless Deano.

Having more than 90% of total wickets coming in spin-friendly conditions must be some sort of record for a spinner with a reasonable sample size...

Also saw something crazy that when Cook and Anderson batted together it was the first time the leading English Test run-scorer and wicket-taker batted together since the 2nd test in history.

Cook - highest score when carrying his bat
Also highest team score in which someone has carried their bat.

Getting into totally pointless stat territory here, but apparently in Cook's previous ten innings he scored the lowest aggregate of anyone's ten innings prior to carrying their bat. And it's also the highest individual overnight score not to be added to, though of course that wasn't his fault here.

Cricketer Of The Year
Smith becomes the 3rd fastest to 23 centuries, taking 110 innings. Only behind Bradman (59!) and Gavaskar 109. To get to 24 2nd fastest he needs a century within his next 14 innings.

International Vice-Captain
If you rank Test batsmen by their 5th highest innings, Cook (235) is 3rd behind Bradman (254) and Jayawardene (237).
If you rank Test batsmen by their 6th highest innings, Cook drops to 15th.

Bloody Bradman still dominating the records.

It's incredible to think that he was better than Smith is currently by a good 33%. Smith is averaging 75 in recent years and Bradman averaged 100 over his career. Un freaking believable.

Steve Smith has just climbed to clear all-time second place in the ICC batting rankings. Previously he was tied with Hutton on 945, now he's on 947. Bradman still up front with 961.

Also, he's the first batsman to score 1000 test runs in four successive calendar years too. I have a feeling that by this time next year we might have had to rename this thread 'The Steve Smith Records and Milestones thread'.
Won't be long before some Afghan takes all his records
