Watching the golf and am starting to see Ben Griffin's name more regularly now. Bradley may have to give up the captaincy and play ryder Cup himself if this form continues. Into the top 20 now. Bryson is 3rd in RC standings despite being in liv.

If the Ryder Cup was tomorrow, Griffin would be in the team. But I suspect he's just on a hot few weeks and it won't last. But Bradley is starting to cause himself some issues, if he qualifies, surely he plays and then someone else has to captain.

The Europe team is looking like it will be very similar to 2 years ago. You might just swap one Hojgaard for another (would anyone know?). The US is a bit of a mess, big names just not firing, although Homa finding some form again would be handy for them.

Rory allegedly being paid a massive appearance fee to play a PGA Tour event in which he looks like missing the cut by a long way

Ryan Fox with 2 PGA wins in about a month!! Amazing. Bob Charles is the only other Kiwi to have won more than once on the tour.

His father Grant was a great rugby player , but Ryan has surpassed him.

I think I'd call it one and a half wins given the first was a secondary event with the top players all participating in a signature event. But he's further evidence of how the top performers on the DP World Tour (Detry, Pavon, Bobby Mac etc) can go out and win on the PGA if given the chance which they now have.

He's really struggling with his driver. I guess we'll see if the weekend off (which you fancy he kind of always wanted) has helped him find anything for Oakmont.

Good for you. Fox will consider it two wins. The PGA will consider it two wins. History will consider it two wins. But you do you.

I feel fairly certain I know which one Fox will value more. Although, whether either of those 2 match Wentworth I'm not sure. Nothing against him, very popular player amongst his peers. But this win provides far more opportunities (like Masters, Tournament of Champions, Signature Event entries) going forward.

18 handicappers can easily shoot high 90's on a bad day on their own course, I honestly think that 150 is more the right number here (and that's assuming they have spectators/ball spotters to find their balls in the rough). Even the greens are just ****ing stupid.

Generally, when it gets like this, length is key off the tee. If you're going to end up in the thick stuff, more chance of making par with a wedge in your hand than a 7 iron. It's either that or someone puts on a ball striking clinic, and we all know who is most likely to do that. I don't think 11-4 is a bad price tbh.

DJ won it here last time at -4 and only 4 broke par, I'm wondering if anyone will this time.

Not getting my hopes up for Scott after he’s thrown away so many chances before

Really should have plenty of major victories

You weren't wrong, turned into a proper choke-athon from the last pair. Fair play to JJ, the Players defeat could've haunted his career, but he's turned it around and deserved the win (especially after his rotten luck early on).

Overall, an utter farce of a major really. Not sure why you'd want to be a member of that course, no trees or water, just a load of grass and sand with a freeway running through the middle. The US Open continues to throw up some pretty random winners largely as a result of their courses, it looks almost certain that 4 of the last 7 Champions will be one time Major winners.

It's a weird one the US Open, been throwing in some random winners for years now. Can go back to the likes of Lucas Glover, Michael Campbell, Geoff Ogilvy, Webb Simpson, Graeme McDowell, Steve Jones for proper random winners in the last 30 years, even Furyk, Rose and Kaymer won their one and only major at the US Open.

Was shocked to wake up this morning and see Spaun had won, turned off when the rain started pouring down and he had started awfully. Started with 5 5's, so to come back, shoot under par on the back nine and win is pretty remarkable. The tee shot into 17 was superb and then to roll in that putt on 18 with the tournament on the line was so cool. Great win. Would have loved a MacIntyre or Hatton win, but fair play to Spaun.

Kaymer won a PGA too, in a play off against Bubba when DJ was penalised a shot and missed out on the play off.

Even Tiger needed to hole that 15 footer at the last, then win a play off on one leg at Torrey to prevent Rocco Mediate from winning one. At least McDowell won his on a proper course (Pebble), but even that was a farce as the greens were all diseased through a drought. It's hard to see the likes of Fitzpatrick, Wyndham Clark, Spaun or Woodland winning another Major.

I'd have liked to see Bobbie Mac win, less so Hatton.

Most of those guys are/were very fine players and not unexpected winners

For example, Kaymer looked to be a great until injury derailed him

Btw, here’s Wayne Grady’s prediction for the tournament and it proved to be spot on

“I want to give my opinion before the US Open starts so I can’t be accused of being a smart arse after. I really hope I am wrong but having seen this weeks setup I think we’re going to see a bolter win. Having been lucky enough to play in 11 US Opens including 2 at Oakmont the rough is outrageous. The USGA’s absolute anal fixation on par being the winning score is stupid. As I said I hope I’m wrong and we see an amazingly competitive contest and hope no one injures a wrist”

It wasn't so much injury, he decided to ditch his normal fade because a draw was more suited to Augusta. For the sake of one course he wasn't suited to he screwed up his swing (and even then, plenty of faders have won there since (DJ, Rahm Scheffler etc etc). Then he had that massive choke where he somehow blew a 10 shot lead in the course of the final 13 holes in Abu Dhabi. Never been the same since and no surprise he took off for the LIV money.
