Nah. Sobers and Smith also faced excellent bowlers throughout their excellent peaks.

My main takeaway from that list is Hill > Trumper, as suspected. The eye test lies. Also Smith… its sometimes easy to forget we’re witnessing such a ridiculous batsman.

TOTAB's peak average of 64 is worth closer to 164 given the era he played in, the bowlers he faced and the fragility of the batting line-up around him for much of that period.

I will say I am actually also pretty surprised at Sachin managing a significantly peakier peak compared to Lara.
