Stop bashing Twenty20

Do you agree that test cricket should be reduced to 4 days with more helpful pitches?

I have to admitt it getting extremely boring reading the same type of posts from the same posters everytime a Twenty20 thread comes up. Yeah all these threads about Twenty20 taking over is becoming boring as well, but not as boring as reading basically the same post over and over again.

We get the picture you don't like Twenty20, but do you have to post the same comments in very single Twenty20 thread. Man its like you guys like reading your own post so much your making dupilcate posts.

EDIT: Anyway as long as Twenty20 kills off 7-match ODI series it will have a positive impact on International Cricket. Nothing is worse then those stupid 7-match series. It ruined ODIs more then the roads they play on.

I don't actually agree with Tournments for Twenty20 Cricket. But after the relative success this WC has had and the relative success of the the Kenyan 4-team series i reckon we might see a few more Tournments. I doubt we will have many more one off tour matches for Twenty20 Cricket. Will that mean less 7-match ODI series or 3 match Test Series. I think it might be the later, but thats not the format fault, that will be the admin for just caring about money.

A lot of this is very true.

EDIT: I meant to quote Goughy's post, now I can't be bothered going back to quote it.

Yeah, I reckon I've vented my spleen about the violence I think 20/20 is doing the game - shan't be sucked into any further arguments on the subject - I'll let my sig do the talking! ;)

Although, on reflection, the title of this thread makes me imagine the tone and vibe of this guy.

I will never accept this bastardisation of cricket.

Twenty20 is a dog with fleas.

A two-headed monster. lol

Totally one sided format . Bowlers are being treated as the street dogs or jokers .And all those sloggers are being glorified as some of the greats .

Havent read the full thread but completely agree with the Thread title.

Its getting very tiresome with the same faces posting roughly the same sort of anti-20/20 sentiment day after day.

Alright, we get it. Certain of you dont like it. But you know what, some of us do.

We all know that people keep going on about how they dont like the format but its getting more 'boring' to read that over and over again than how 'boring' those posters find 20/20 itself.

For me Tests are King and always will be. They are the only cricket that really matters. 20/20 is entertainment and no threat to Tests but it also does require a definate skills set.
I have not visited the 20/20 WC thread, but if they are going to post on here I think I am entitled to post my opinion, why do they ask if they do not want to know? As 20/20 is not cricket, it should have its own forum

I take it you have a similar stance concerning 50 over cricket as well?

I'm just wondering whether the cluster that was the ODI World Cup now was entirely the result of incompetence or whether the ICC wants to move to T20 as the standard, so did their best to kill off the joy of the ODI WC before organising what must be acknowledged as a well run, nicely atmosphered tournament to-date in SA.
The logistics in organising this T20 WC and the ODI WC2007 are different. for one the Twenty20 is being held in just one country.

Far more people are enjoying this WC than the ODI one, and it just goes on to show that Twenty20 is here to stay like it or not. I think with ODI's they won't be affected much, but if pitches in tests continue to be flat and no results are produced even at the end of day 5, now with Twenty20 out, people will quickly lose interest. That's why I'm saying ICC should reduce tests to 4 days( so people don't have to wait for 5 days) and make pitches extremely helpful for bowlers( to ensure a result and this will also make test matches far more exciting) or they take a risk with people losing interest completely in tests.

Tests which are over in 3 days ATT will soon get samey too. The whole beauty of Tests is that you get some seam-friendly wickets, some spin-receptive ones, and some flatter ones. And some absolute horrors (be they uneven, seaming ones or ridiculously flat ones that offer nothing to seam or spin), but you hope these are just rarities.

What an amazing (and rare) show of unity on CW ? Cutting across borders, age groups and what have you.
