Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
the one time I get first place in the final round of a draft and I don't need it lol

I'm the last person to nab a keeper, but more than happy to take Adam Parore

Bruce Mitchell
Alan Melville
Hansie Cronje (7)
Herbie Taylor *
Aubrey Faulkner (5)
Lance Klusener (6)
Adam Parore +
Shaun Pollock (1)
Fanie De Villiers (2)
Craig Matthews (4)
Nantie Hayward (3)

Pretty happy with that, lots of bowling options and solid batting all way down to 8, and with De Villiers and Matthews also averaging 18 each at 9 and 10 I can't see us getting bowled out cheaply. Given the captaincy to Herbie Taylor in case Cronje does engage in illegal activities, he won't have the power to bully/influence other players into going down the same road. Would have been nice to have an entire team full of 1 country but oh well Parore is not a bad player

Probably light 1 batsmen. Great quality allrounders. Would like 1 atg bowler... but overall not unhappy.

International Captain
South Africa's best spin bowler during their isolation era.... Denys Hobson

Trevor Goddard (3)
Jackie McGlew
Bert Sutcliffe
Dudley Nourse *
Nathan Astle (6)
Lee Irvine
Brendan Taylor +
Vince van der Bijl (1)
Goofy Lawrence (2)
Denys Hobson (5)
Makhaya Ntini (4)

Like the look of that team. Pretty strong batting line-up, especially the top 4. If for some reason McGlew decides to put everyone to sleep with his slow batting, then Irvine would counter that in Gilly fashion.

"Lee Irvine comes next, to bat and keep wicket with the sort of musketeering joyousness that Adam Gilchrist brought to the game. He was really very good, with fast hands, neat footwork, and no fear of the consequences. Ray Jennings might have been the stumper; Denis Lindsay might have come out of retirement for the chance, but Irvine it is, for sheer class." - http://www.espncricinfo.com/magazine/content/story/578932.html

Vince (6ft 7.5in) and Goofy (6ft 5in) would make up a strong opening pair who would deceive batsmen with bounce apart from their accuracy. Goddard and Ntini would be ideal support bowlers for these two.

"And finally to the least known of this illustrious band. The legspinner Denys Hobson. A bounder, nearest, I guess, to Abdul Qadir, though without quite the flurry of arms and legs. Hobson truly spun the ball, searching always for wickets and never containment, a perfect approach in this team. His finest hour actually came a year later when he ripped 9 for 54 out of Eastern Province on his home turf at Newlands. It blew a gale in his favour that day, but he knew how to use favour, and with the attack around him - not least Procter's offspin - he would surely have created havoc when the opportunity arose." - Mark Nicholas: South Africa's superstars of '76 | Cricket | ESPN Cricinfo

Cricketer Of The Year
Flem and RH have timed out. I'll take Ewan Chatfield to round off my side. Will post final lineup soon.

The normal awards that everyone else has
Reckon Mitch Santner has a future, so I'll take him.

Red Hill XI

Glenn Turner
Tom Latham
Andrew Jones
Graeme Pollock
Mark Greatbatch
Quinton de Kock +
Brian McMillan (3)
Cyril Vincent (4)
Mitch Santner (5)
Shane Bond (1)
Morne Morkel (2)

Not too bad a side, in the end. Glenn Turner an underrated opener, and Latham is proving to be a good one. Jones at 3 was a solid performer for NZ in the 80s. The star is Pollock at #4, an undisputed ATG. Greatbatch and de Kock round out a steady middle order, and with McMillan at 7 there's plenty of batting. Two good quicks in Bond and Morkel, both awkward to face. McMillan providing back up, along with Vincent and Santner spinning it. In McMillan, I also have one of the great slippers of all time.

Pig Styris to round my side out. Underrated cricketer with both bat & ball. I'm move Ryder up the order so Styris can slot in at 6..

Not surprising to see most composite SA/NZ/ZIM sides with plenty of batting depth...
