Reserve Days for all ODI'S?

I am all for this. I don't like to see a washed out match. Fridays forecast rain in sydney will probably make it 3 from 3 in the CB series. Pity it is.

For- Would almost guarantee a finished match, even if it were to be played over two days, spectators would get what they paid for.

Against- Would screw up Television broadcasts, they couldn't put on normal programming for two whole days because the cricket may mess up the scheduling.

Bigger breaks in between ODI's would be required, you couldnt have a reserve day enforced for Sunday's game and expect India to back up for another game tomorrow and yet another day on Wednesday. They do it tests, but ODI's are more intensive and it would obviously be a disadvantage to them because the other teams have had less time on the field.

overall I just want to see cricket games finished however. Other sports can allow for it, why can't Cricket?

Cricket isn't like those other sports. Most sports take only a couple hours to finish at most.

If you could guarantee that the reserve day would be rain free then there'd be some merit it, but you could end up having the same screwed up match spread over two days at twice the cost and still not get a result.

The playing conditions on the two days could be different too and could end up costing the match to one team unfairly.

I don't think it's really worth the trouble, especially in a tri-series with enough useless games as this one. Lets be honest, what do these games really matter in the scheme of things?

I think reserve days are essential in tournaments such as the World Cup where a no result for a top nation against a minnow can throw the whole group (especially with net run rates).

But for events like the CB Series or just general two team series I'd say no.

Why not have indoor stadiums.............or stadiums that can have a roof. I am sure the ICC and the BCCI have enough money to make a few stadiums indoor.

Surely you jest, besides the BCCI would be broke after the Harbhjan defence.

Of course if they could clone, they'd probably try and get a few more Tendulkars, Kumble and Dravids before Harbhajan.

I wasn't agreeing that you'd lose nothing cricket wise by doing away with them, just pointing out that they're essential to the future of cricket purely from a financial aspect whether you enjoy them or not.

Sorry to say there gonna need a bit more than that if there gonna build these stadiums everywhere, WA government are spending 850 million on a new stadium for football and that won't have a roof so god knows what expence a roof would come too on top of that, and this ground is only going to seat 60,000 people. So we can't just go and build stadiums everywhere like you suggested.

If your only build 1 ground in each country then you would have to fixture every game there and then the rest of the states and cities miss out so that doesn't work and as far as the ICC putting money in, well, we just saw a world cup played in the West Indies and they didn't even have lights, the ICC didn't pay for them to be put up for a world cup so there not going to build stadiums everywhere.

It's a rediculous thought.
