Not Terrible
most atg sides would deadset love india to roll out rohit in an all time side.

snick, snick, snick.

i view him similarly to the likes of roy, finch and guptill. amazing power hitter and even in rohit's case a good red ball batsman in some conditions but when the chips are down and atg odi bowlers are moving the new ball around in the channel, is he even gonna reach 30?

the answer is no.
We've seen plenty of instances in the last few years where regardless of how good the bowling lineup is, its a par score 400 pitch.

The Guppys of the world are good to keep in the imaginary squad for that reason IMO.

Agree with this. Some pitches have been so flat lately, and boundaries short etc., that it almost takes bowling out of the equation and you just need someone who will hit as much as they can as quickly as they can and technique is irrelevant.

Actually a pretty strong team. Could add David Houghton or Murray Goodwin for one of Blignaut, Brandes, or Jarvis as there as so many useful bowling options (Johnson, Grant Flower, Raza, and Sean Williams all handy).

Roy and Bairstow are statistically the strongest opening pair in odi history so no
You know that ODI wickets in England since those 2 started opening have been consistently some of the flattest in cricket? There's no comparing between the England ODIs that Roy and Bairstow have played with Trescothick's experiences. Apples and oranges, relative statistics are meaningless.

Yeah Trescothick would have fitted in nicely with England's current odi approach

You can't just blame that on wickets in England: Trescothick's figures in matches outside England are even further behind those of Roy and Bairstow.

I'd take Trescothick over both every day of the week if you're up against half decent bowling on anything but a road. Back when Trescothick played most teams played their full strength bowlers whenever they could. Roy and Bairstow bully second string attacks on 400 par-score roads.

always thought anderson and broad were hard done by being perma-dropped after the 2015 wc tbh. they were pretty good odi bowlers for a while, and the blokes they replaced them with were all spuds bar woakes and the late ring in. england might have actually won the world cup in 2019 if they had anderson in the conditions we saw during the tournament.

hayden and jones really unlucky not to get in here. watson had a period around 2007 where he batted lower down and smoked it so he'll be fine here.

Bracken over Lee is a war crime

Fleming would struggle to make a NZ ODI 3rd XI.

Astle was heaps better for a start and a good 6th bowler
