really i dont think the gap is that big. Obviously Jones right now is the best unresponsive pitch bowler in the world. But in seaming conditions in don't think their is much separating them. I think Jones is the better bowler overall but has i said just slightly since Nel is also very good.sledger said:What?! Jones is a much better bowler than Nel.
Hopefully for Australia i does last & even if he has you say this weakness to full -and-wide deliveries outside off-stump which i'm not so sure since he drives it through the covers superbly well. But if it is as you say we will see.Top_Cat said:As for Huss, it's a matter of time before we see the 'real' Hussey and he's already started to be figured out. Full-and-wide outside off-stump is where he's been nicking them of late which pretty-much is where he's historically gotten out in FC cricket. He's been hitting the ball well, yes, but I don't think it'll last.
I would say that a beamer is fairly unresponsible in pitch (since it doesn't) - therefore Brett Lee must take that title.aussie said:Obviously Jones right now is the best unresponsible pitch bowler in the world.
I swear I wrote exactly this somewhere else......anyway as for Bevo V Hussey in ODI's. For mine they have been performing very similar roles with Hussey pulling Australia out of the s**t consistently like Bevan.Matt79 said:Hussey has played England, in ODIs, which are not the same as tests obviously (please don't beat me up), during the last tour, and I thought he was far and away the best bat in our ODI team during that tour. Although its comparing apples with oranges, he seemed much more comfortable against the English attack than any of the other Aussies, and it would be a reasonable conclusion that he'd carry something of that form into the test arena - as indeed he did in Australia.
I firmly agree with many of the Channel 4 commentators during that last Aust v. Eng ODI series that it was absolutely bewildering that Hussey wasn't included in the test squad. Furthermore, I'd say, especially as he would have been enjoying the honeymoon people are now saying he is enjoying, that had he been included in the Ashes instead of Katich or Clarke, Australia would have retained the Ashes.
I think he's a better fit than Clarke at 4, and i think he'll naturally slot in to replace whichever of Hayden or Langer retire first.
He's certainly my favourite cricketer at the moment. His execution of the middle order one day batsman's role is even better than Bevans - in that he is more able to switch from steady accumulation to attack - Bevan sometimes left the switch agonisingly late...
is that addresses to me? I can't be stuffed with filters. Better if someone else provides the infor for me.vic_orthdox said:Filter is there for a reason.![]()
Swear filter. The one that you put more effort into skipping than what you could have done by letting it do its work, and everyone probably would have got the gist of what you were saying anyways.sqwerty said:is that addresses to me? yeah had a bit of luck in that second dig and should have been out for 0 but Nel was too sick to appeal. Still to hit 89 on that deck was a top effort.Jono said:Just keeps getting better and better.
He's Boje's bunny though![]()
i'd much rather face a past it Pollock, a below par Nel, Ntini, Kallis and Boje than play Shoaib, Asif, Shabbir, Kaneria & Afridi .aussie said:fair enough, but its the 2nd best attack he could have faced in his introduction to test cricket & he has done well. So to say the SA attack compared to england isn't quality aint right..
Yes especially when you consider that it took him nearly 5 years to resolve that weakness.....luckyeddie said:Sign of a very good player is that he can turn a perceived weakness into a strength (e.g. Trescothick - the source of his frequent downfall is also the source of his runs)
A finished pollock is better than Hoggard in his prime?aussie said:Pollock overall is better than Hoggard
do these comparisons actually prove anything? i could change those around and make it appear as though SA is the better bowling attack.aussie said:Jones is slightly better than Nel
Freddie beats Kallis in his sleep
Gilo & Boje are pretty much even
Jones is certainly far more adept at swinging the ball than Nel is. For me Jones in the Ashes series bowled far better than Nel has in his entire career and i'd argue that he was the best bowler from either side(including Warne) in that series. If Jones continues to bowl as well as he did last summer he'd be miles ahead of Nel.dontcloseyoureyes said:For mine, I think it depends on the conditions. If the conditions are giving a little bit fo reverse Jones is miles ahead, but if they aren't they're closer to even than his Ashes series suggests, for mine anyway.
