One Cricketer you would want to bring out of retirement

Kirkut

Lasith Malinga for tests. Bowled yorkers so effortlessly in tests that it looked like his stock ball.

glenn turner, or maybe throw dempster a bone to play in a better side than he got.

viv richards for the windies. they need a great top order player who will score his runs as quickly as possible before the guys at the other end are all out.

one of the early great indians like vinoo mankad must feel fairly wistful looking down on his side from above now. farokh engineer probably wouldn't mind another go either.

You guys could really use Richard Hadlee to finally win a test against Aus.

Line and Length

Cricketer Of The Year
Wouldn't tour away though the massive coward.
This post, in response to Kirkut mentioning Dennis Lillee, is inaccurate, ill-informed and a slur on the character of an ATG.

If you are referring to away tours in general, Lillee was on 9 overseas tours including England, New Zealand, West Indies, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

If you hold a belief that Lillee avoided tours of India, consider this:

Lillee's Test career spanned from 1971 to 1984. During that time frame there was just one complete Test tour of India by Australia, that being in 1978/79 when the touring side didn't include any players who had been involved in Packer's World Series cricket.

The previous tour of India was in 1969/70 - before Lillee was playing Test cricket.

The next tour was in 1984/85 and was relatively last minute with the Indian Cricket Board not requesting a team until June 1984. Lillee had announced his retirement after the final Test of the 1983/84 series against Pakistan. This was well before the 84/85 tour of India was planned.

Given the adversities Lillee faced during his distinguished career (including spending 6 weeks with his back in plaster in 1973) to suggest he was a coward is completely wrong. To call him a "massive coward" is a reflection of your ignorance and character.

Someone like Mark Taylor would be perfect for Aus right now. Low key, no nonsense skipper who knows how to manage a team and is tactically very good, plus a dependable opening bat

Sehwag and Gill opening would be fun!

Kapil Dev of course - Jadeja and Kapil as a lower order (plus the obvious bowling advantages).

I think Jayasurya got to play t20s only at the fag end of his career. Still at 40+, he played a few astounding innings at Mumbai Indians - where he opened with Tendulkar in one of the biggest ever fan-service for 90s people like us. Surely would have got record multi million dollar deals had he born with same talent but after say 10 years or so. Asd to the mix his athleticism and left arm darts - a complete package.
