Just why is mendis still playing? Nobody seems to get out to him anymore....
I think you are referring to Ajantha Mendis. Yes, he's a waste of space specially against sub continent teams. He's not adapting. His mystery is gone, so he should try to develop a good off break.

And in the mean time Chandimal is having a party out there. 43(48) with one four and three huge sixes

have seem some trundlers but some of the Indian seamers in this series take the cake can uderstand the senior batsman taking rest but don't know why would you rest sreeshanth or Ishant Sarma or even an RP Singh.

... because it's good to know who can hack it and who can't. If Praveen and Zaheer pull hammies in the middle of the World Cup, you wouldn't want some of this crap having to open the bowling.

Why throw them all against the wall at once, rather than introduce them one at a time and let them settle with at least some support from a senior bowler or two.

Can't argue with that. Just like Raina and Karthik were there for the other young batsman, Sree could have been there for the bowlers.

But that being said, they're hardly up against the strongest teams themselves. Sri Lanka have played their seconds, and perhaps the BCCI expected better from this Indian team against Zimbabwe.

This is more a failure of the personnel then the policy in my opinion. If anything, I reckon the policy has worked.

Vijay hasn't been much chop at international limited overs level as some expected, and so team India knows that too. Sharma on the other hand has been pretty good.

I don't disagree with the policy in total, just think that they've taken it too far.

Put it this way, by having some senior bowlers there to help him adjust into the side Australia have gotten big dividends out of Ryan Harris. Bet it wouldn't have happened if it were him leading an attack in his first couple of games.

This is what happens when you end too many careers in little time. The BCCI seem to have shut the door on Irfan, RP Singh, Balaji, Ishant and possibly Sreesanth. That's why they're forced to look at options far inferior, like these. Except Vinay Kumar, and by a long shot Pankaj Singh, none of these pacers have the goods to be India regulars. The scrapyard, once again, seems more promising than the so-called supply line. Likewise, they've seemingly permanently discarded Badrinath and Robin Uthappa, often choosing wicketkeepers and lower-order strikers as frontline batsmen.

They're in even greater danger of losing more players from this tour than finding any. We may never see Vijay again, which is a shame, as he's a far better batsman than half the batsmen in this squad. We may never see Mishra back, though he's the best limited-overs spinner in India, better than Ojha, Jadeja and even Harbhajan. We may not have Vinay Kumar back in the Indian team, though five seasons of consistently good bowling and utility without the ball should keep him in. The scrapyard may keep piling up and the supply line may run dry if this nonsensical management (?) is not stopped.

When there are so many undeserving players together in the XI, caps have been handed out. Therre may be more behind this selection and what happened out there. Rather than witch-hunt Modi and hound IPL team owners in pursuit of trivial cases, they need to launch an investigation into the Zimbabwe debacle, like they hounded Abhijit Kale back in 2003 over buying himself into the team. Was there any foul play involved? Seems more likely than any match-fixing or bid-rigging in the IPL.

Dropping Lamb for Chibhabha was so stupid.

EDIT: Seems he was rested. Fair enough.

Personally dont see anything wrong with the policy. They may not have got to the finals but they've got a fair idea of what to expect from their youngsters at this sort of level. Now they can pick and choose whom to add to the team among both the senior players and younger players.
