That's been a major weakness throughout his career. It's so much a feature of his wickets that I don't even call it a batsman error any more, it's simply the bowler getting it right. He has never and will never (at 34) know where his off stump is.

WI have the right idea by having a man deep in the off-side to rudds but he should really be in front of square rather than at point.

As much as I don't really rate Rutherford, this partnership with Williamson would be a great one to watch. Some of his shots through the off side are glorious, and we all know about Williamson's shot making.

Tbh, if he's not suited to this wicket then I don't know what wicket he would be suited to.

That first ball from tino was excellent, exactly the length he should be on. Horrible position from rutherford against the shorter one

But, man, glorious shot by Williamson in the previous over. Hope he can keep that up.

His leg-side play is terrible early on which leaves him especially vulnerable because bowlers can afford to keep it straighter to him.
