What are Lynn and this Darcy guy like against spin? Will the SCG turn much for Santner and Sodhi?
Like every Aussie batsman, they are more comfortable against pace. Short being a spinner at least plays proper shots against spin, but he doesnt use his feet much. He looks to pounce on anything short, where he lives up to his name.

From the odds above I couldnt find anything great, maybe Maxwell most 6s at 15. He might bat at 4 or 5 though which could mean he finishes high up the list but not first with a too 3 guy more likely.

Early showers today in Sydney - dont think there will be any rain when the game is on though.

Aus 1.55 v NZ 2.45 today. NZ is great value since theyve actually played T20Is together. Aus will be working on combinations so might improve as the tournament goes on.

i don't think NZ is a very good T20 side tbh. The middle order goes missing too often and we're pretty reliant on Boult and the spinners to carry the bowling effort, but they can only provide 12 overs.

Agree. And the practice of not meddling with the incumbents taken to sometimes ridiculous extremes. Now that Munro is back it would be so like Hesson and co to leave out Taylor stating he isn't in the first choice XI.

Yeah, despite the complaints about Kane up top I don't think he's the real issue at all. He's found a way in T20 before and will do so again.

Bruce, Kitchen etc need to either show up or make way for the likes of Chapman who, while not the saviour we're in danger of writing him up as, is the better batsman than those two guys imo. He's probs better than Phillips as well.

And because it's an unimportant tri series we've missed a prime chance to put super smash MVP Devcich in the mix to see how well super smash results stack up against mitchell starc yorkers (if he ever feels like bowling them again, also, probably won't stack up well at all).

on a completely different note, i'm almost on board the munro for tests hype train. nz do have a track record of ignoring good players for years because they look **** then being surprised to find they're ok (O'Brien, Elliott, CdG etc)

Starc isnt playing so it would be more like facing Tyes change of pace. Seriously Stanlake KRichardson Tye Dwarshuis Zampa are all decent T20 bowlers but no one is going to be concerned or exposed facing them.

I think it might be time to make Twenty20 just a domestic/franchise thing and remove internationals. It would mean removing the World Twenty20 which I know a lot of people enjoy but it would free up the schedule. Keep one-dayers international though.
I've thought about this and I feel it could potentially just lead to more players becoming T20 specialists and possibly even a decline of the domestic FC/LA competitions.

For example - One of the main ways Franchise T20 teams assess how good you are would be based on your domestic T20 exploits or your ODI game. If you're a player who's doing well in domestic T20s but hasn't got a break in ODIs yet, you're naturally going to try and play other T20 leagues around the world in order to make a living, get better at the format and/or market yourself to better leagues. In all likelihood that might mean missing domestic FC/LA games which means you don't develop your skills in those format and move towards becoming a T20 specialist.

This likely won't affect the really top class players because they're probably playing international cricket, but it would certainly remove some talent from the FC/LA domestic pool which means an overall lower quality domestic competition in those formats.

I'm annoyed that NZ have dropped Ferguson. Was looking forward to seeing him again.
He should have been picked for the T20s... much better option than village-level Rance, who will get murdered on Australia tracks if they're stupid enough to play him.

Australia won toss and will bowl. I'm pleased about that with the way we chased against Pakistan. Hopefully 180+ and a track that turns

A few new names in the NZ side. Never heard of these Bruce or Munro guys.

As I type Munro gets out. He doesn't seem any good.

Wow that's literally the perfect ball

He'll not get close to bowling that again. 2-35 from Stanlake today.
