Men's side getting a little more interesting now,,,,Nadal v FAA and Novak v Diego and then the winners meet in a quarter final!

Alcarez v Zverev the other probable quarter final, the other half looks much weaker, Tsitsipas playing terribly and the likes of Rublev, Sinner, Medvedev and Kecmanovic best of the rest, surely the winner comes from the stacked top half?

Iga not great today at all, was lucky injury ruined Zheng in the last 2 sets because Zheng in the 1st set was all over her.

Pegula next should be less stressful however for Iga.

Other half of the draw is quite random, Gauff one of the semi finalists awaits the winner of Fernandez who has not been great since the US Open and Trevisan who before last week has also been rubbish since her unexpected run in 2019.

Tsitsipas gone from the men's bottom half, so we get a semi finalist from Ruud v Rune and erm Rublev v Medvedev/Cilic.

The top half Zverev v Alcarez and Novak v Rafa the quarter finalists, not the most balanced of draws !

I haven't seen any of the match, but for Cilic to win at all is surprising. For the scoreline to be that one sided makes you wonder if there was an injury.

well medvedev isn't that good/comfortable on clay so a loss isn't that surprising...
His worst surface indeed.

Cilic has always been capable of murdering anyone on his day which sadly have been very rare over the last few years.

The 2014 US Open run is iconic, probably gets trashed by Rublev however knowing him. :(

the winner of djokovic/nadal will most likely win this, alcaraz is the only other player who has a small chance...no one else in the draw matters as far as winning the tournament goes...

Two teenagers in a Men’s Slam last eight for the first time since the mid 90’s.
Pleased to see Leylah Fernandez in the latter stages of the women’s tournament. She looked the “real deal”, for want of a better cliché, at the US Open.

Fernandez beaten my Martina Trevisan in three sets. She was a decent prospect a few years ago. I didn't know she'd taken time out because of an eating disorder.

Bit of a clay specialist isn't she?

She beat Gauff here a few years ago so should be a good semi final, although I do think Gauff would be more competitive in a final v Iga.

Betting wise Alcarez is actually 2nd fav for this behind Novak and ahead of Rafa. Assuming he beats Zverev who has been patchy he has a good chance against either oldie as lets not forget he has beaten both recently. Obviously the oldie would be fav in a semi final, but not by much, Alcarez is very special.

Iga playing poorly here but looks like she will crawl to victory v Pegula.

Kasaktina awaits the winner:cool:
