Elite Intent as well surely? If Langer was to come out with that I wouldn't stop laughing

In every sports interview you often see 3 or 4 bottles of cooldrink in front.

I would pay to see someone open all the drinks and down them before or during the interview :)

Best thing about that interview was when he talked about it being fun to take wickets..... Steyn have some fun for a few more years!

Irritating how the media questions were trying to goad Steyn into saying the Aus team sucked, to much a class person to bait him into that.

Noticed that.

They were also trying in those just off the field interview just after the game

Australia just easing in to the summer of cricket ahead of the true start of it, the Gabba test in January.

Our one day batting has been largely dependent on Finch for the last 12 months. He's scored 441 runs with 3 hundreds at 49@93.

The only other centuries have been scored by Shaun Marsh, who has scored 288 runs with 2 centuries at 58@103.

Stoinis and Head have both scored just over 300 runs with no centuries at an average of around 30. Mitch Marsh has scored 180 runs at 37 and Maxwell has scored 150 runs at 30.

What's even more shocking about this is that of the 11 matches we have played in this time only Stoinis has played all 11. Head has played 10, Finch and Paine have each played 9.

Nine other batsmen or all rounders have played 5 or less ODIs in this time period.

Is it any wonder our batting is not up to scratch?

Australia seem to be searching for that silver bullet combination that will magically start winning us matches. What they have to realise is that constant chopping and changing is killing our consistency. They need to pick 4 core guys (Finch, Head, Stoinis and Maxwell probably) and stick these guys in at opener, 3, 5 and 6 and then pick two guys who are warming the bench for Warner and Smith (Short and Marsh if you like) and make it clear to them all that they're the team that will continue to be picked until the banned duo return.

It sucks for the two bench warmers but if their role is made clear then there is both freedom and security in that and it'll bring better performances.

I understand the attraction of picking Lynn and maybe he's the guy to play opener over Short, but there's absolutely no point playing a different batting lineup every game. It gives far too much value to single innings and places far too little emphasis on consistency.

Cricket is a game of consistency. Consistency brings runs. Consistency brings wickets. The only thing Australia have been consistently don't in ODIs since the Champions Trophy is losing. A big part of that is that the selectors have picked more players and given them less games than ever before. Our domestic limited overs structure is horrid as well and should take part of the blame but the talent is there in Australian cricket. The will to pick for the long term is not there and that's the core problem.

I agree, and one of them should be Lynn. Don't drop him after 1 game again.

Australian ODI selectors cannot discern between picking ODI and T20 batting line-ups. Lynn, Stoinis and Maxwell in the same line-up is not sustainable for ODIs

I think they are though. Certainly all three are in the best team Australia can field right now. I think Lynn needs to open though.

Finch
Lynn
Head
S Marsh
Maxwell
Stoinis
Wade (Carey)

Is as strong as our side will get until the return of Smith and Warner. Warner and Smith to replace Lynn and Marsh when they return.

We only have 5 ODIs left now until the world cup so I don't think we should do much more tinkering. Let's get everyone into their batting spots and stick with them.
