This is so easy, going to be very interesting to see how Australia bat 2nd time round with the pressure of trying to bat for 2 days to save the game.

For all the stick Colly gets he now has 24 off 35 which is decent enough.

KP's a genius.

Enjoyed the footage of Warne coaching Borthwick. That's one thing I really like about Warne, he's very happy to help out young bowlers, especially leggies. Must be pretty damn awesome for Borthwick too, couldn't ask for a much better coach than Warnie. Bumble just topped the whole segment off with his little show just outside the 'Comm box too, WAFG.

Who's been saying that?

Warnie, commentators etcetera.

They used to wax lyrical in the same vein about Mark Waugh when he'd punctuate his run of failures, or mediocre scores with a ton against some hapless attack.

When he made his successive pairs against SL one pundit even claimed "That's the genius of Mark Waugh."

BTW, as ordinary as Punter's captaincy has been, what would Strauss do with this attack on this pitch, in the prevailing weather conditions?

one of my favourite cricket moments ever:

Ponting puts 3 men back for Siddle bowling to pietersen, Pietersen hangs on the back foot and plays 3 successive baseball shots

Hopeless captaincy indeed

To be fair to Warne, he'd know better than any of us and it is his opinion.

Unless Strauss declares, Australia may not have two full days with all the weather interruptions expected on Monday and Tuesday. The latter is predicted to be more rain than dry weather.

just turned to sky commentary halfway through that? Who is the lad? Is he English?

He is indeed. Scott Borthwick, plays for Durham. Warne has worked with him before too, doing a leg-spin masterclass last summer. Featured Borthwick, Sussex leggie Will Beer and another young leggie who's name escapes me ATM.

Didnt realise that Ponting bowled the long hops

That was definitely a case of the bowler getting pummeled for bowling ****

Nah I agree - those three fours were waist/chest height. The first one was head height and KP didn't enjoy that one as much.

Reversing? Very early if so.

What a weird offside field.

nah that was Ponting thinking he needed strange tactics. Since about the 15th over hes telegraphed what they're going to do and forced the bowler to bowl to strange fields.

At the Adelaide Oval against this attack - no dispute there.

Against some Pakistani swing in English conditions and Steyn and Morkel in SA conditions - maybe have some reservations.

It's a pity for SA fans that their selectors couldn't spot genius.

They were saying on Sky, that they were talking to the groundsman and he said that they weren't expecting bad weather, till Tuesday, so who knows.

Probably exactly what he did once the ball got older. Set 6-3 fields with men ringing the offside, ask your bowlers to stick to bowling one side of the wicket and wait for the batsmen to get themselves out.

He also probably wouldn't have told the selectors to pick a spinner averaging 48 in FC cricket because he's from the same state and looked half decent in a couple of ODI games against Sri Lanka.

Sorry but it's a guarantee that Ponting did NOT ask his bowler to deliver waist-height long-hops

That's like criticising a captain's field placings because a bowler is serving up full tosses
