To Steve Waugh: WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO OUR NOTORIOUS BATTING BUNNY??

You've created a monster!!
haha, that was awesome! How's the slog-sweep? Is it true both Waughs told McGrath they'd give him $5000 each if he ever made a test 50?

Watching it, you just knew he was going to do it, too. Having said that, I'm not sure that a short one was the ideal delivery to bowl to him at that stage. Clarke's feats so far are one of the best examples of "silencing the doubters" I think I've seen for a long time.

In the Cricket Show just now, they were describing his performance against India as being as "sweet as a rich, buttered chicken". Mmmmmm....
The guy is batting unbelievably. He played a shot to go from 107 to 111 that was some sort of straight pull on the up over mid-on for 6 to a ball a foot or so wide of off stump - amazing stuff.

Haha I was thinking that was quite quick. Mind you, anyone who purchases that may be quite smart. If Clarke has anywhere near a career that his potential can give him, that'll be worth a hell of a lot of money by the end of it.
I have a couple of playing shirts signed by Clarke and the rest of the NSW team, might be haning onto those for a while haha

what the.................

when I left for work Gilly & Vettori were having a good old tussle & the match was evenly poised .............now when I get home I read that bloody Pigeon is 54no & has put on **** loads with Gillespie for the last wicket!!!!!!!!

I know I was looking for AUS to give NZL a lesson, but I did not expect Pigeon to get in on the act with the bloody bat for crissakes!!!!!!!

what the hell did NZL do - drop their bundle after Gilly & Clarke got their tons?????

with this lead & the uneven bounce coming in with the cracks - I'd have to say that this match is GONE for the Kiwis..............

Just to show I'm a hardened NZ "supporter", I was not even slightly surprised by McGrath's 50. Nor frustrated. Seems I've got used to such things.
nah - McGrath is a genuine #11 as much as Martin is for NZL..............that performance to let him do what he has is just bloody pathetic..............I can accept the top & middle order doing it to us but to allow the AUS tail (which is genuine #10 & 11) to do so is deserving of total derision........what's the point in us batting down to #10 if we are going to let the opposition #11 outscore our own lauded lower order / tail?????

Anyway, how many NZers or others feel that bowling too short is their problem? I've noticed it for a long time now...personally, I'd rather see them pitch everything up, even if they get driven for four repeatedly. Martin, especially, I don't know what he's pitching short for. Full is the natural length for him, or at least it seemed so vs. SA.

Next, what about tomorrow? Today's probably been pretty horrible for the NZ players and they must want to get it behind them, so I think the best thing Ponting could do is let MG and Gillespie carry on for a while tomorrow. If they can make anther 20-odd runs, NZ would be mentally destroyed for the whole day, I think.
I agree re the short pitched deliveries - what made it even worse was to see Mills pitching it short when he's supposedly a swing bowler & would need to be pitching it up on a good length to get the bloody thing to swing in the first place..............

I blame the domestic pitches being low & slow, as you have to bang it in short on most them to get the ball up to a decent sort of height to make the batsman feel uncomfortable - the problem is on a decent pitch all you are going to do at their pace is give them a good look at the ball b4 they cream it to the boundary..................

so far as tomorrow goes IMO the deal is already done re the mental destruction..............

I think very highly of Langer, but Sunil Gavaskar was a better opener.
I'd say the likes of Hobbs and Sutcliffe as well (and add Boycott)

If Langer is so good, how come he's only ranked 1 space ahead of Andrew Flintoff at the moment and has never even been in the top 6?

Because he is better than flintoff.

8-) 1 whole place (!)

Did you not read what I put?

For someone who you allege to be so good, you fail to realise his ranking is so low, and he has NEVER even been one of the top 6 batsmen in the world.

A good player, but by no means a great.

And what do you mean by that?

The official rankings put England there, and there's a reason behind that - they've been winning a lot of games.

It really bugs you that Langer would be the best batsman in the england team if he was unfortunate enough to play for them.
