just tuned in. never change nz.
Wait, isn't this basically what happened in that semi-final? NZ were really trudging along in that game.
nah the bulk of the innings was kane/taylor reading it as a 240 deck and playing accordingly.

I've now heard Smithy say that Nicholls is a good foil for Gup because Gup is a striker, a hitter, and then Symonds saying this sort of innings is out of character for Gup. It's not. Against good sides, and under pressure, especially away from NZ grounds, he's having significant issues.
nah that's not fair. he infuriatingly belted starc around for a ton last odi series in aus. i think it was even the mcg, just to rub salt in.

Cricketer Of The Year
Jesus cummins has bowled amazing today, know the pitch is offering a bit but he's still been exceptional.

Latham carrying on his good form. I wonder whether he is close to getting picked for the T20's as well.

Ah CdG, why play the chip shot when 10 percent more power from you would clear the boundary?

CDG just doesn't have a shot to keep on the ground in his repertoire . Does he reckon every shot needs to be in the air?

What a lousy batting performance. Aussie quicks have been class as usual, but could have been seen off, most of the wickets just gifted away . As Latham and CdG briefly showed, possible to score quickly on this pitch taking only calculated risks.

They got the chase arse about by grinding early instead of taking it on up front when batting was easiest

Possibly true, but they could just as easily have gone hard early and been 4/20 after 7 overs and then everyone would be going on about how they should have been more circumspect early on. Sometimes you're just outclassed and the other team is simply better. Funny how we always like to try and blame the tactics used and entertain scenarios where we would have won, when more often than not the team that beat us just played better.

Having said that, you'd think going harder earlier on a slow wicket would make sense though . . .

Nah, it was obvious from the first innings that once the ball got soft it was really hard to score. Was worth the to ask to take it on early imho
