Great spell this from Cummins. Oz seemed to be drifting a bit until he came back and there was a visible lift in intensity which led to those loose shots from Blundell.

**** he hits the bat hard.

Good over by Starc to back him up there, too.

Cummins is as important as anyone in Asian conditions; if he was unfit for the Bangladesh tour I wouldn't be convinced Australia would win there.
They’d win in a hand canter anyway, but yeah he’s very important everywhere. Am really looking forward to the next home summer.

Good batting from Latham and Blundell - so nice not to have a flurry of wickets and for the openers to do their job calmly. Slower wicket has to help too.

Good to see us finally outplay Australia over 90 overs and do it with our B team.

Blundell is currently averaging 76.50. Marnus who?

A relief to reach stumps unscathed. Honours even today I reckon, which is about as much as we can hope for under the circumstances.

These makeshift NZ teams do generally exceed expectations - the game against South Africa at Hamilton a few years ago springs to mind.

A long way to go in this test though.
