*Official* Fifth Test (The Oval, London) 27-31 July

Whatever it takes!!!
Nah, I think the Aussies can rightly feel disappointed at not being 3-0 up at the moment. Had their chances. :D
They should absolutely feel disappointed at not being 3-0; they were architects of their own demise at Headingley.
True but England can feel the same about not being 3-0 up as well. That is why I said earlier it has been about which side screwed up lesser.

But overall, I feel Zak has nailed how the series has gone so far.

Aus should have been 3-0 up after the first two. First test England gave that away and third test Australia gave it away. It evened out in the end

Surely Australia wants to actually win a series in England, and England want to stop them. There are also WTC points up for grabs.

Also, many of the Aussies will never play a test in England aagain. If Warner plays will he get that elusive 100 (unlikely).

Will Anderson play and get a farewell?
I don't think this is the end for Jimmy, or if it is it won't be his choice.

Fun fact: If Australia don't win the series they'll take the dubious record of longest away Ashes series drought. England drought of winning a series in Australia lasted 24 years (1986/87 - 2010/11). If England draw this series, Australia's drought of winning a series in England will be 26 years by 2027.

Yeah that's possible which would mean his average would likely come down somewhat.
With K.W 's figures to go up after his freshening up, it will finally be proven that Kane >>Steve
Tbf, it's already come down quite a bit. He's been averaging about 45 since the completion of the last English Ashes - which tbf is still pretty outstanding for a guy who has every bowling department on the planet working overtime on how to get him out.

Too bad we got half the Aussies on here happy with a drawn retain. Absolute ***** mentality same as the time England drawn the World Cup

Funny thing is England already will have not won an Ashes series at home for 12 years by 2027
But that isn't a record we've gone longer than that thanks to the wars. We went over 20 year without a home Ashes win.

Even without the war we've gone longer without a home victory.

What @Boags has posted is potentially you having that stat on your hands.

Which clearly is eating away at you as your raised that point immediately. 2-2 would be a bad result for you, however you dress it up.

Got a while to beat the 'home drought'. We had 20 years between 1985 and 2005, and an even longer one from 1956 to 1977.

Not a chance in hell both teams won't play their strongest teams to get the win. This is not meaningless white ball cricket ffs
It's a little ironic that we say it's not white ball cricket (agree with the sentiment of your post) and yet nearly half the Aus team were originally ODI/T20 specialists, while the English team seem content on scoring at run rates you'd typically see in white ball cricket.

Agree, except get Neser in for Hazlewood who is not having a great series. Bonus extra batting as well to make up for not having Green.
And yet, there's precious little difference in the stats between Hazlewood, Starc and Cummins. I'd say he looked somewhat fresher than the skipper at OT.

Yeah they absolutely should and I think they will play their strongest XI. This isn’t some stupid LO ****. It’s the Ashes and Australia haven’t won for over 20 years in England. And England are rightly disappointed that the rain may have cost them the Ashes and they will want to go out on a high (as well as deny Australia a series win).
Nah, pommies are never regaining the urn even in their dreams.
