If we're signing Chamakh he needs to start with van Persie. The 4-3-3 we play is designed to make the most out of Cesc and Robin bt when they're both out like recently it just doesn't work. Chamakh is the type of striker who would be a good foil next to anyone so we really shouldn't waste him up top by himself. He'd improve the games of whoever he plays with by virtue of his physicality and workrate.

Edit: Bendtner is also going to be a big part of the squad next season. Has 9 in 14 now and a lot of them important goals which extended our season a good month. Eboue is handy to have around and Wilshere will add something to the squad. Sign Chamakh and then do everything to improve the back.
Who plays where then? 4-4-2?
Song and Cesc in the middle? Nasri wide right and AA wide left? Walcott off the bench.
Don't like it as much myself.

Haha now that the season's over, ins and outs for next season. Pipe dream but ideally:

-A real goalkeeper. Not one signed from the spastic centres we've been getting our recent ones.

-Silvestre is gone, Djourou is alive again and it's doubtful we'll offer Gallas the 2 year deal he wants. Two central defenders, one young and one experienced. Ones that like to defend though.

-Midfielders. We're fine here except I think we need a specialist backup for Song. No more square peg, round hole **** like we're seeing with Diaby, Denilson and Nasri filling in there.

-Strikers. Chamakh is coming and he'll be awesome. Time is looking up for Vela and Eduardo isn't looking half the player he was before. Have a young Brazillian named Wellington coming in January, pretty happy here. So 4 players in with Silvestre, Almunia and possibly Gallas out.

Not ideal to lose Billy but if we end up having that kind of summer I'd be okay with it. The doomer in me says we'll sign Chamakh, a no mark defender and that's that.

One of Akinfeev (superb technique but Man U are after him), Lloris, Adler, Mandanda, Asenjo??

Can't bear to see Almunia keeping wonderfully then monumentally ****ing up at a crucial moment.

An extra defender & defensive midfielder would be nice so we can get rid of Silvestre and Denilson for good. Maybe we can recall Traore and try and go for David Luiz of Benfica. As duffs mentioned hopefully Djorou can be fit for this season.

Just youtubed Chamakh, looks like a jumping jack who can strike - may not have to aim for Campbell's head anymore come corner time. Will be gun alongside VP, Vela or even Bendtner.

Hmmm, Southend and Wycombe as good as down, so only one spot left over. Reckon Gillingham will lose their next 3 but possibly get a result on the last day so they'd have 47. So we'd need a point from the last 5 games which should be manageable. Have Tranmere finishing on 48 as well, win against Exeter & Stockport and a draw at Brentford. Exeter might struggle but i reckon they will pick up at least a point and will have a better goal difference than Gills anyway....

So i have Wycombe, Stockport, Gillingham and Southend down...best result for the CW contingent as well.

Agree wholeheartedly with duffer about Theo, his development's taking slightly longer than you'd hope due to the fact he's been injured so much and that he didn't start playing football until he was 12/13. Wenger's a big believer, as are other managers, in that most of your technical development happens between ages 8-12 so he's behind in that respect. He'll come good though.

Anybody else heard the rumours that AA23 is on his way out? Only a whisper around on Twitter, don't think anything will come of it.

So come the start of the 10/11 season what would be everybody's ideal squad of 18?
Frey/Lloris, Sagna, Vermaelen, Gallas, Clichy, Song, Cesc, Nasri, Theo, AA, RVP
Almunia, Djourour, Defender X, Diaby, Rosicky, Chamakh, Player Y.

Not sure who I want us to sign as Defender X but Player Y would probably be one of Denilson, Nicklas, Eduardo or Eboue. Leaves a lot of players not mentioned, Gibbs will be back from unjury, Jack back from loan, Vela, Aaron still on the sidelines.

I like it, means we won't have to see a bench like the one we had against Barca at the Nou Camp.
I would say Frey is more likely to go to Bayern Munich instead. They are definitely interested in Frey since Bayern want a new 'keeper (Butt is 36 and Rensing, well he makes Fabianski looks good). They will probably sign Manuel Neuer instead just to spite me.

The reports linking Frey to Bayern seem quite credible in both Italy and Germany. The head honcho at Bayern said they need a new 'keeper. Either way, I can't see Arsenal pulling off a transfer for either Frey or Lloris. Especially the later as he would cost quite a lot of money, something Arsene doesn't want to do too much.

Should have signed Frey about ten years ago ffs.

Tottenham 2 - Arsenal 1 longer highlights

I think Song of a season ago was too much of a liability to be played in a 2 man midfield but now I definitely think him and Cesc can work. Could be disastrous if Denilson or Diaby had to fill in there though, so a backup is a must. Think Chamakh would improve the shape of the attack in general and will sacrifice for the team. Bendtner as well benefits a lot more when he has someone to play off.

Obviously losing the extra man in the middle would require us to beef up our backline a lot, but I'm hoping these past couple of years has convinced Arsene to do that anyway.

I hope you're right but I can't see us getting 7 points from those 3 games, I have us getting two, four at the most

Even in victory the Spudz embarrass themselves

My oh my, how small time these ****s are. Really, seriously? Wtf, who sanctioned this complete atrocity of an idea?
I'd have sanctioned the idea tbh, because I know there are load of morons out there who I could make easy money off for this sort of crap. It's the people who buy into this **** that are the real waste of space.
