**Official** England in New Zealand

All over.

The worst series ever for mine. Absolute pathetic batting.

NZ will never win another test series again.

**** off!!!!!
Dig yourself a hole. If you can't stomach NZ losing a test, then I'm surprised you're a Kiwi. Should be used to this by now.

At least Taylor was dismissed by a decent ball. Another not too great dismissal from McCullum though.

Hmm, really think McCullums got to calm down, when it comes to attacking intent. Mind you he can carry on doing it in May if he likes.

5 for Monty, probably not deserved, but he kept it accurate for a long while, and has tried to flight it a bit more. Can only hope he can keep on learning.

Still good one Python, and a typically understated celebration.

I wonder how much his test performances deteriorated as a result of being a regular in the one-day side. Ditto Cook, actually. Anyway, this won't do Panesar's confidence any harm after a fairly miserable couple of series.

Well, I never wanted Panesar anywhere near the ODIs, utterly pointless. Didn't even play for Northants regularly, did he?

Fairly sure both of them have been damaged in Tests by it TBH. Especially in MSP's case it's plain madness the way near enough everyone seems to want him to play, he's patently not a OD bowler of much note and in becoming one he'll damage his Test prospects, if indeed he doesn't damage both at the same time.

England have Swann in ODIs, we don't need MSP to play them, and unless Cook gets lots better at one-day cricket fairly soon I don't really want him to play 'em either. His performance in Galle was awful, though obviously I wasn't expecting much of him in New Zealand (and he's been flattered by his figures this game) or at SSC, or against India.

Looks like Patel should've been out lbw there.

By the time I really concentrated on fielding, Tufnell had become less awful than he once was. TBH, too, given that I only ever watched home cricket until 1998 and Tufnell played a whole 2 home games between 1994 and 1997, I never really even knew who he was until 1999. Mullally, while poor, was never execrable.

MSP is certainly worse than the Tufnell of 1999 and 1999/2000 and 2001, but I couldn't offer any real comparison to the Tufnell of 1990/91.

FFS, I'd hate to be a bowler with over-attacking fields. Hate having 6 or 7 slips and no cover for attacking strokes.

Tufnell 90-91 was worse than MSP now, and by a considerable margin imo, though he did catch Slater off Malcolm (I think) at Adelaide in that series. IIRC it was the first Barmy Army tour, and when he caught it, they nearly stormed the ground and carried him on their shoulders, such was the shock of it all.

First time the Barmy Army officially gained the name was 1994/95 not 1990/91 TBH. Their type had probably been around a good few years by the time it was officialised tho.

Right, Anderson on. For the tail-clean I wonder? Wouldn't be at all surprised. Something Harmison got plenty of times, and it often makes (made?) shocking look merely bad.

The Tufnell of the 90/91 tour to Australia was by all accounts was horrendous from TMS & newspaper articles (only had 30 minute BBC highlights at that time).

It was so bad some sections of the Aussie crowds set up the Phil Tufnell fielding acadamy as a pisstake.

If you don't mind me asking chalky, how old are you? Have often wondered, and have often got the impression you're a few years above most of us, but if you remember 1990\91 properly I think you're a bit older again than I'd imagined.

Also, is your "chalky" based on Craig White?

 MSP to the right-hander has three slips in position. I've never even seen Stuart MacGill bowl with that many!

Doesn't look like we'll wrap this up by lunch :(

Wanted to see the presentations. Strauss to get MOTM now I reckon, I'd still choose Sidebottom personally, maybe even KP, easy to forget about how important his innings was
