I'm stalking following the team around the traps. Should be good. I expect to be playing offseason cricket in the US again, anyway :)

50-over match: Trinidad and Tobago vs Cricket Web 'A'
at Guaracara Park

Trinidad and Tobago were humbled by a Cricket Web 'A' side at 90 per cent, though the bowlers continued the fine form from the domestic season. Big scores from rookies Josh Ritchie and Sam Morris prevented an embarrassingly low total against a side that struggled with line and length, and the sheer pace of Maina and Wright destroyed what could have been an exciting chase.

Matt Luff continued his recent poor run of form in domestic cricket, and though he stuck around for 20 overs he was unable to take full advantage of the fielding restrictions. Ritchie was considerably more aggressive, hitting five boundaries to Luff's one, and though Ritchie was dropped on 38 he kept on pushing against the spinners. After thirty overs, Cricket Web had eased to 147 for one, with international veteran Dauth impressing with his treatment of Mohammed and Jaggernauth.

Richard Kelly returned after a disappointing opening spell, and the first ball of the second was inside edged by Dauth; Ritchie then gave up an easy catch after having compiled 82. However, domestic team mates Morris and Young prevented a collapse, and Dillon and Morris were treated with disdain by Donald and Morris, hitting 61 off the final seven overs.

The Trinidad and Tobago batsmen were cautious in the early overs, taking only 10 from the first seven, yet Kyle Wright managed to get Lendl Simmons out caught and bowled with the fourteenth ball of the match. Martin West was taken off after Barath managed to get bat on ball on two successive deliveries, and then dropped Ganga at square leg; it mattered little, as replacement Maina had Ganga caught low by Luff. From 29 for two, it seemed like Trinidad would have to rebuild, but instead they collapsed abysmally. One wicket in each over from the tenth to the fourteenth resulted in 40 for six, as Maina collected remarkable figures, and ensured that the match was all but over. In a cruel indictment on the Trinidad and Tobago batsmen, number 10 Mervyn Dillon ended with 15 not out, the third-highest score, behind extras and Barath; number eleven Jaggernauth was finally bowled by West for 13, having put on 32 with Dillon, and Richard Kelly also managed a score of 14.

50-over match: Jamaica vs Cricket Web 'A'
at Sabina Park

Cricket Web 'A' continued in a rich vein of form with a flat-track massacre of Jamaica at Kingston. International bowler Jerome Taylor was treated with no respect as Alex Blackman and Nick Scott staked out their claims for spots in the A team series later this week.

Matt Luff continued his Dippenaar-like run of form, scratching about but without taking full advantage, but the opening partnership of 154 allowed the other batsmen to smash out ruthlessly. Alex Blackman was perhaps the most controlled of the aggressors; though more than half his runs came in boundaries, he never looked like getting out until attempting two sixes off Dave Bernard. The first came off, the second not; by that time the total stood at 270 for three with 33 deliveries remaining. Young and Morris assaulted the bowling, adding a further 87 to disfigure the statistics of Taylor and Bernard.

A Jamaican side unaccustomed to chase large totals would have needed Chris Gayle to chase down the total. Though Shawn Findlay impressed somewhat in a boundaryless fifty, they were never likely to score at seven an over, and Andy Maina picked up easy wickets at regular intervals. Xavier Marshall, Danza Hyatt and Brendon Parchment alsscored some runs.

Very happy to continue the form after the Christmas break. Said my prayers, took my vitamins and it's paid off.

Some awesome knocks from Blackman and Young to help the score over 350. Everything is sort of 'clicking' at the moment.

Disappointed to miss out given I got a run for the National side very recently. Especially when I'm the only fulltime keeper in the side. Granted Young is a part timer though

Gilchrist > Maher :p

50-over match: Canada vs Cricket Web 'A'
in Skydome

In a small ground and with the field down, Ashish Bagai and Sunil Dhaniram began Twenty20 practice with a remarkable 69-run partnership, but started the chase too late to get within the Nick Scott-propelled total of 316.

Cricket Web XI were put in to bat, and after starting slowly against some testing swing bowling, they got going after twenty overs. Ben Read took forty balls for a half-century before drying up, while opener Scott feasted on the spinners and the death bowling; Cricket Web plundered 70 off the last thirty deliveries, and Scott reached 160 not out with ease.

Canada paced their innings similarly, with Rizwan Cheema benefiting from two dropped catches to grind out a painful 49. By that time the required rate was a solid ten an over; Bagai and Mulla did not dare to start the chase until the 43rd over, which they began at 171 for three. Eight overs later, they had made 120 for three, suggesting that CW still need to work on their death bowling - Dhaniram hit eleven fours and one six in a remarkable 52, but Cricket Web 'A' still triumphed by 23 runs.
