Jeez, such an all-round dire performance. Expected, given how the last match went. WI looking super stronk. Push Gayle up to open and lose Fletcher, imo, once Pollard comes back. The middle order is INSANE, Fabian allen comes at 9, lol.

Also, surely Starc has to go now? Has been absolutely rank across formats now.

What is the situation with crowds for this series? I presumed that because of COVID they still weren't letting spectators in to matches in the Windies but there seemed a smattering of fans today. But if crowds are allowed back, surely they would've been more than the very small numbers that were there.

Only vaccinated fans are allowed.

When Wade is judged to be one of the two best T20 opening batsmen in Australia then things must be truly dire in the Australian game. No depth?

Wades a gun white ball opener and there's plenty of depth outside of him. Our problem Is that we have **** all middle order options.

Whatever it takes!!!
Maxi walks in as your #4 I guess but there are still problems aplenty around him. I would let Wade bat 3 and be the keeper. That gives you a buttload of bowling options from 4 to 11 as well, unless you wanna pick some kind of a specialist finisher batter at 5/6.

Warner
Finch (c)
Wade (vc) (wk)
Maxwell
Marsh M
Christian/Henriques/<insert finisher here>
Stoinis
Cummins
Starc
Zampa
2nd spinner /Hazlewood

The batting is a bit of a worry but that bowling line up can still win you games if the batsmen get you upto a par score.

Stoinis wastes a lot of balls, him coming down the order would be more miss than hit. And Smith could have easily averted the crisis in the first match/play the anchor role when needed, I wouldn't drop him for WT20 if possible. Plus, defo think Haze should start, Starc on a bad day just can't be relied to bowl the full quota, might spray it around.

Yeah Stoinis has to bat top 3 or not at all IMO. There's plenty of competition there so I'm heavily leaning towards "not at all".

Stoinis may well be doing this job for Delhi Capitals and if the IPL does happen in the UAE, he will be coming in with form and experience in that role. Why would you wanna waste that? I would try to suggest all 3 of those right handed medium pace bowling allrounders to play the exact same roles for their IPL franchises, which they probably already do. This would also mean Agar only bats at 8 tops which is perhaps the right slot for him, given that he seems to be your #2 spinner.

IDK how well he did in IPL at 5/6/7, but seen enough of him otherwise to know 90% he's not a guy who can just come in and start hitting. And even at #3, he's not consistently good. Without him, let's say:
Warner
Finch
Wade
Smith
Marsh
Maxi
Christian/Moises
Cummins
Starc
Agar/Haze
Haze/Zampa

Agar comes in at 10, and there's plenty of depth. You can ofc shuffle the order.

My point is none of your batsmen are really suited to come in and hit from ball 1, at least the ones who get the big runs in T20s and ODs. Maxwell is gonna be batting 4 for RCB and has said that is his best spot. Stoinis, OTOH, will be playing as the finisher at 6 for DC and with the WT20 to be held in the same grounds, I would think it would make sense for Australia to use him there. Smith can bat 3 and Wade can bat 5/6 if it comes to that, but I feel Smith wont be making it to either the IPL or the WT20 at this point.

HB is right, stoinis had a blinder last ipl batting 5/6. Came in, hit from ball 1, struck at 150odd and took a good number of wickets, all while in the uae.
