Jeez that escalated quickly. Hadn’t checked after tea until just now.

anyway, shaping up as a good chase. Plenty of time for Aus. Henry obviously the key for nz on form

On the pitch last week, I would say this is plenty but on this, with only ~2.5 bowlers, I don't think it's enough.

Ha, there was a very easy 2 on offer if he'd just knocked it onto the onside. But Kuggeleijn doesn't know the idea of restraint...
It’s also possible to try to hit 4s. There was no rush. Literally any option other than trying to hit 6s over fielders.

That was weak as piss since the tea break. Still a chance but grinding out another 30-40 runs would of made a big difference.

He was but this isn’t a good Australian batting lineup and hasn’t been for some time

People seem to have forgotten that we were saved by rain in the Ashes and owed one of our test wins to Cummins batting
That's a very glass half empty way to look at that ashes. England where the better side by the end of everything, but we still drew a very good England side in home conditions. The third test was close as hell and the 5th test was also pretty close

Fyi, not saying that our batting is perfect. Just confused at how people are reflecting on that ashes nowadays.

They really should chase this down, but I don't blame anyone for not trusting this batting order in a chase of substance

Australia in the last 7 years have won 1, drawn 1 and lost 6 Tests where they've made at least 200 in the 4th innings. Sample size lol tbh. Still, if they can't get it up to beat a team with Kuggeleijn then they got questions to answer.

We really, really need an actual probing spell from Southee here too. He's been a passenger for the last year and it really is time for him to stand up.

Yeah it's crazy how few competitive fourth innings chases we've had over the last decade. Though the last 12 months has given up a few.
