Actually that's 2, so I should have said here's 2 more, but then again Smith is only rated by 1 person so maybe he can't be over-rated in which case my 1 was in fact correct.

Erm, Marc 1 Marc 1 (I think)

Yes.. keep it to one at a time in future I think, better for everyone :D

And we've covered these guys in the Champions Trophy thread. Both hugely overrated, if anyone rates them. Oh yeah, and I'm not responisble for the Graveney hate-mail before you start to think it.. :P

Guilty as charged ;)

We must discuss these things in the proper place, and besides, the Longest Thread cannot win!

He plays for Worcestershire!

If you want underrated, Powell of Warwickshire springs to mind (until this season)

Blackwell is not that highly rated.

He's a Flintoff-type batsman (marginally better) who can rapidly change the game), plus a useful left-arm spinner.

I beg to differ. People have been calling for Blackwell's call-up all summer, implying that he is highly rated. Yet looking at his stats, he would be bloody lucky to get a game as a specialist bowler in county cricket, and his batting is not much better.

Here are the stats, thanks to cricinfo:

Now correct me if I am wrong, but those are not great stats. Certainly not the career stats of a decent international or 'top' county player.

Look at his career with Somerset for better figures. I seem to remember he was awful at Derbyshire (like most players ;) )

His bowling is pretty dire though.

The word which came to my mind was garbage, although he did have a decent knock in a one-dayer against Glamorgan.

Truth be told, he was still only 20 or 21 when he left (along with the rest of the half-decent players).

He's had a bad season, but was fairly close to England represntation a couple of years back.

He's certainly no worse than Ben Smith.

Powell is no better than a Birmingham League player

Back this up with some facts please Chris (if you can!)

I don't see how someone averaging over 30 in First class Cricket, who has represented England A, and has at least one Double Century can be crap and no better than a Birmingham League player.
