Mohammed Azhuruduin vs Mark Waugh

The comparable batsmen from the era Azhar, Malik, de Silva and M. Waugh. Beautiful to watch and underachieved.

It's tough. Azharuddin had a really great statistical output. Terrific rate of centuries, like ATG level(scored one nearly every 4 tests he played), he flies under the radar here, I guess due to the match fixing

Junior was also great, and though his lower average can somewhat be put down to inconsistency, he did reach 3 figures very regularly and often against terrific bowlers. He rarely scored two tons in a series, but also rarely went more than 1 or 2 without getting one.

A complete inability to continue batting after reaching the 100 (153* being the highest score from 20 centuries is pretty nuts) definitely affected his average. It's taken for granted how much those junk runs after hitting the milestone help a batsman's record. I guess he just saw the job as being finished and stopped caring, which tbh rarely hurt the side as we always had at least 2-3 other top quality bats in the sides he played in

Both obviously were great to watch. Can't split them

Azhar for me. Great player.

Both awesome to watch, too.

Azhar also the better match fixer.

Both were great to watch, great fielders and match fixers as well,If I have to pick it will be Azhar. Before Sehwag Azhar used to play at good strike rate in tests.

Mark Waugh easily for me. Go down his list of centuries and see how many of them were clutch innings that resulted in victory, or saving a game. And across the globe, India, Pakistan, England, WI, SA, Australia.

Azhar a bit of a soft run bat. I recall a lot of his runs coming in hopeless situations or when the game in already lost.

Mark Waugh: A lot of quality tons in there. either winning or saving the Test match. Especially that 1997 second innings century against South Africa, St George’s Park
