ITM Cup 2010

I am thinking of backing Southland - they have the shield to defend (it is a shield match right?) and they will lift for the game. Although Southland lost to Taranaki - I think Canterbury did as well IIRC.

Also I am switching to a new web site to get ITM results - I have been using planet rugby but they keep posting the wrong results. According to them Waikato lost on the weekend.

Israel Dagg's also injured so both sides missing their most dangerous player. Guildford also obviously not playing for HB given hes in Delhi.

In other news, Luke McAlister's gone for the rest of the season with a broken jaw; I don't think he had any hope of making the end of year tour anyway, but if he had the slightest of chances thats surely gone now.

Tempted to change my pick to North Harbour now their talentless showpony is out.

Don't think I will though.

Ranger means more to Northland than Dagg means to HB. IMHO

There are decent rugby players in the Commonwealth Games? :-O
I think every player selected for the NZ 7s squad has appeared in the ITM Cup this year so theres certainly quality in the team. Zac Guildford and Hosea Gear the biggest names.

Fair comment - though doing without both Dagg and Guildford is a fairly big blow for a Hawkes Bay team already on the inexperienced side.

Just watching the young Auckland 1st 5 earlier today. He kicked the ball one bounce into touch and looked really pleased with himself. I was thinking that was a bit too close for comfort. But he was pleased with his efforts. Sure enough he tried to repeat the effort and kicked it out on the full. ha ha.

Maitland is the weak link for Cantabs but without Robertson I don't like the chances.

Edit - Game over well played Cantabs. Best performance by them all season. Game of the season for me. Fruean looked awesome. Sonny Bill pretty good. Too much forward power by Cantabs at the breakdown. Must have been the likes of Whitelock making a difference as I havn't seen that from Cantabs this season.

Long live the Ranfurly Shield!
