Is there a team that can beat this Asian ODI XI?

I think cricket is reaching the point where the limited over greats have shifted towards the subcontinent.

I came up with the below ODI XI from the Asian countries:

Tendulkar
Rohit
Sanga
Kohli
Babar
Dhoni (c)
Imran Khan
Kapil
Wasim
Waqar
Murali

12th man: Shakib ul Hassan

Tendulkar, Kohli and Wasim are locks for an all-time ODI XI, while Rohit, Dhoni, Kapil and Murali are near-locks. I chose Imran and Kapil as ODIs allows for more than one all-rounder. Dhoni is the best ODI captain of all-time IMO.

Imran is underrated to me, his averages are misleading, majority of his career he was a worldclass pacer averaging 22/23 and a capable 27/28 with the bat.

Babar to me will comfortably end up in the top five limited over Asian bats, but I would replace him with Zaheer if current players are not allowed.

Bumrah may end up replacing Waqar as his career progresses.

12th man will be Shakib ul Hassan who can play instead of Imran or Kapil on spinning wickets.

Question is if there is a Rest of the World XI that can beat this one.

Imran may lead an Asian test XI, but not ODI XI. Sangakkara is way overrated as an ODI batsman. If he plays he has to play as the keeper (which is not possible with Dhoni standing in). Abbas has a better average and out of the era SR as well. I would go for;

Sanath Jayasuriya
Sachin Tendulkar
Zaheer Abbas
Virat Kohli
Barbar Azam
MS Dhoni (c)
Kapil Dev
Wasim Akram
Muttaiah Muralitharan
Jaspreet Bumrah
Lasith Malinga

Two new ball bowlers Wasim and Bumrah starting, , with Kapil bowling through the middle overs with Murali and Jayasuriya, and makes the ball old. Then it would be Waim / Malinga / bumrah show in last 15 overs with reverse swing. I am still worried with the standard of fielding in this team, where best three fielders would be Jayasuriya, Murali and Kapil, and all being bowlers. Barbar and Virat are good, but they are nowehere close to elite level.

Jayasuriya for Rohit is a potential consideration too
Far better option. Since the team is loaded with batting, one loose cannon can be entertained. If and when he fires (which happened regularly at his pomp), he would single-handedly win games for you.

If you want to beat that XI I would field;

Adam Gilchrist (wk)
Brian Lara
Viv Richards
Dean Jones
Michael Bevan
Jonny Bairstow
Lance Klusener
Shaun Pollock
Brett Lee
Joel Garner
Glenn McGratrh

I wouldn't play a single spinner against Asian XI. The best couple of non Asian ODI spinners was taken apart by Indian contingent in that team with utmost ease.

And if this is the team that play against Asian XI, I would even drop two pacemen (Malinga and Bumrah) and unleash Saqlain and Ajantha Mendis against them.

Probably should field de Villiers somewhere in there (probably ahead of Bairstow). I'd personally have Hussey as well.

Sorry but Malinga > Waqar or even Imran is a joke.

Bumrah is too early to tell IMO.

I agree with Dhoni as captain.

Rohit averages nearly 50 and around the same SR as Jayasuria. Not sure Jayasuria is that needed honestly unless you want to factor his bowling.

Modern day ODI greats such as Kohli, Babar, ABD and Sharma can score much more prolifically than the pinch hitting types of the past without as many risks and at almost the same high scoring rate.

Yeah, this. Rohit is clearly the better batsman but there are one too many good batsmen in the side and having Sanath would give the side an early impetus that Rohit often doesn't provide until he is set.

Besides a spin bowler who can dart the ball on the base of leg stump can come in handy on any pitch.

No spinner is mental. Would still play Warne.

Think Hussey, Hayden or Ponting can find a way in. Dean Jones is questionable.

Starc > Lee for me.
