Begs the question of how TF CricInfo are so ill-informed.

That article, according to what Indian posters here have said, would be the equivalent of the BNP claiming Pakistan Tests shouldn't be allowed to be hosted in England next summer because, well, nothing with connections to Pakistan should be allowed to call the UK home or whatever bull**** they can think of on their next whim - and CricInfo then posting a piece about how the Pakistan-Australia Tests next summer might be cancelled.
Big news in the media here, looks like The Age broke the story and CI just reporting off that and paraphrasing.

Hmm, it really wouldn't be obvious at all - the post doesn't read like that. I'd be more careful about how you phrase things TBH, as it's a pretty sensitive issue. Virtually no-one in this country likes to see it implied that the BNP represents them.
"Seriously? English think like that?"

Let me be frank about this....

Ok first of all, westerners should be the last ones to complain about such sensitivity, when they, themselves go around labelling people Talibans or Terrorists based on their nationalities or looks or when they go around and start racial profiling based on looks. So, stop being so sensitive.

Nevertheless, My statement refers to BNP, who are also English....or British, which ever way you like it....i am not of the practice of labelling nations with a certain name based on a small group's actions......so chill out.

What's wrong with "racial" profiling?

It's not so much that he was being overly sensitive as you expressed yourself poorly if that's what you were trying to say. If you'd expressed yourself a bit more clearly, I'd doubt he'd have said anything.

Again, you've made the mistake of saying "westerners do such-and-such" - no, they don't, a relatively small minority of westerners do it. It is not acceptable to tar entire massive groups of people with one brush, especially when you're projecting diabolical values onto them.

Well you basically did, whether you meant to or not.

This is called misinterpreting and imposing your views on others, that the "Westerners" have been doing for a while....

I was born in Toronto, lived and studied in NY and now in Montreal....i have seen it first hand, experienced the racism first hands, seen the prejudice with my own eyes. White man's burden, civil wars, colonization....this is the history of the "West" not the BNP or any other civil class.......

Stop portraying your imperialistic self as an angel.....

Its called, "tasting your own medicine"....although you took it the wrong way....but if you want to go down this road, then so be it.........

****ing awful thread from post 1.
If any segment of Australian mainstream media did play up Bal Thackeray's ramblings - the OP was right to raise it to collective attention. Even though this thread has headed way south , I hope/think at at least a couple of folks were able to put this particular group into some sort of perspective. That's more than what most threads achieve.

As it now stands though, also hope that moderators will do the merciful.

Haha, Bal Thakaray. Moron extraordinaire. Shiv Sena, and all the organizations like them, are the stupidest in India. Thankfully, as modernization progresses, these idiots will have progressively less and less power.

Also, regarding Indian students being attacked, what can the Australian government do realistically? They can go all out and spend millions to create a squad focused on this problem, like they have task forces for the mafia, drug cartels, etc.... but who is the target? Let's assume that they are purely racially motivated - unless the attacks are coordinated by a group or groups, and not random idiots, there is no one to go after. Now, if people have evidence that the police is deliberately ignoring the victims or failing to investigate - then it's a different story.

I think the English BNP is the closest analogy - except the Sena and Thakaray unfortunately wields more power and influence than the BNP does.

Who ? Me?

Bud, Toronto is in Canada...not America....

Lol......so much for an illiterate "American" ....
Canada, USA, Mexico, whats the difference? You are still from the North American continent and it isn't wrong for people to call you American.

The type of morons who use race as a basis to attack someone won't respond to something like this very well, in fact they would probably get more agitated.

Bad all round :(

Just a friendly advice, don't EVER call a Canadian an American.........NEVER.....unless you work for a call center then i guess it doesn't matter, the long distance charges are the same......

Nationalities are based on country of birth, not continent of birth.......

Here's a geo-political lesson for you my friend.....

Canada is a proud sovereign nation, which consists of a variety of cultures. Hence, forming a cultural mosaic with a parliamentarian democracy and still has the supreme representation from the Queen of England, though its only symbolic. Canada's first language is English and 2nd is French.

United States is a sovereign country which also consists of multiple cultures, but its a melting pot and not a Canadian cultural mosaic (huge difference). Moreover, its a Congressional democracy and does not give authority to the Crown to represent them. Hint: (Read about the war of independence and the 13 colonies). Finally, US's first language is English and second is Spanish.

Mexico....ahhh...its a democracy, corrupt like the third world countries..., it has some nice vacation spots too.....

My point is, you should stop having your blond moments and behave like a proud Indian, which in my experience have proper knowledge and respect for other countries and nations....
