ICC Awards 2021

The Sean

Cricketer Of The Year
Perhaps not what was expected, Pakistan have dominated the ICC awards for men:

- T20 Player of the Year: Mohammad Rizwan
- ODI Player of the Year: Babar Azam
- Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy Overall Player of the Year: Shaeen Afridi

Only Joe Root kept Pakistan from a clean sweep, deservedly winning the Test Player of the Year gong.

On the women's side, Sriti Mandhana won overall Player of the Year, with Lizelle Lee taking the ODI award and Tammy Beaumont the T20 gong.

Wow...the BCCI and most of this forum will need a lot of vaseline

Btw the awards are for 2021 not 2022, and if I remember correctly, they are not usually a calendar year but Aug to Aug or along those lines.

Anyway, no doubt Babar has been the leading ODI cricketer on the planet, especially during a season with little ODI cricket. Pakistan also had the best bilateral series win of the lot. Ditto Rizwan, who has been simply iconic, let's not forget his remarkable keeping either.

Also, can anyone argue with Shaheen as the best young cricketer on the planet???

Here's the test side:
Dimuth Karunaratne (SL), Rohit Sharma (India), Marnus Labuschagne (AUS), Joe Root (ENG), Kane Williamson (NZ), Fawad Alam (PAK), Rishabh Pant (IND, WK), Ravichandran Ashwin (IND), Kyle Jamison (NZ), Hasan Ali (PAK) and Shaheen Afridi (PAK).

Not sure what Ashwin's doing in there or Pant, but ah well, better accumulated then most other ICC test sides that have been put together.

Well, Rizwan broke about a million T20I records for a calendar year. I don't remember a single ODI played in the last year but Babar probably deserved it. Afridi was phenomenal across formats, got a 10fer against WI in WI and tore up in the T20 WC. Well deserved.

Australian public doesn’t know how good Shaheen is and will generally think that any success he has against us later this year as “Pakistan so dodgy”

He will tear Warner & Harris apart if he bowls up to his potential

Whatever it takes!!!
yeah... Pakistan have had a stellar year and it is reflected, I guess. India had amazing performances as a team but individually, I think the awards have gone to the most deserving guys.
