Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
When yesterday's play in the test match went into one day mode two things became clear - Hayden and MacGill NEED to be in Australia's World Cup squad. Hayden was dropped from the ODI team beacause of his patchy form in England, but he is back to his best now and he offers more value at the top of the order than Katich. Hopefully he can put in some big performances in Qld's ING games and get back into the team.
MacGill is Australia's best ever One Day domestic bowler and his record speaks for itself, he also has an amazing record in his only 3 ODIs. Now with the super-sub rule he should be able to play more of a part in ODIs with Warnie leaving it too late to come back to the ODI team and especially if the super-sub rule changes to being named after the toss by the ICC which is very likely to happen. It was just clear when the batsman started attacking (ODI style) MacGill is at his best. Given the state of the W.I. pitches a very good leg spinner will come in handy.
