Greatest ODI XI (But only one player from one country allowed)

Attitude

School Boy/Girl Cricketer
The rules are clear. You use only one player from one country and see what is the best combo you come up with.

Tendulkar - IND
Gilchrist - AUS
Kallis - SA
Williamson - NZ
Viv - WI
KP - ENG
Shakib - BAN
Akram - PAK
Rashid Khan - AFG
Heath Streak - Zim
Murali - SL

Raghav

International Vice-Captain
Stephen Fleming (NZ)
Adam Gilchrist (AUS)
Kevin Pieterson (ENG)
Kumara Sangakkara (SL)
Sakib Al-Hasan (BAN)
Neil Johnson (ZIM)
Rashid Khan (AFG)
Anil Kumble (IND)
Allan Donald (SA)
Courtney Walsh (WI)
Wasim Akram (PAK)

MrPrez

International Debutant
1. Neil Johnson
2. Sanath Jaysuriya
3. Virat Kohli
4. AB de Villiers
5. Shakib al Hasan
6. Michael Bevan
7. Ian Botham
8. Richard Hadlee
9. Wasim Akram
10. Rashid Khan
11. Joel Garner

Could swap Bevan/Hadlee for Taylor/McGrath or Williamson/McGrath.

Could also swap Jayasuriya/Garner for a WI opener and Murali, but would be fairly spin-heavy if so.

Viv Richards *
Virat Kohli
ABDV
Shakib
Flintoff
Hadlee
Streak
Akram
Rashid

All attacking batsmen
3 all rounders and 3 bowling all rounders

Hadlee Akram Flintoff to bowl 30 overs. First two being two of the greatest fast bowlers of all time.
Streak fourth pacer. Shakib and Rashid and Streak can divide 20 overs between them.
Fast. Left Right. Fast medium. Reverse swing. Leg spin. Left arm spin. All in display.
Jayasurya to roll his arm if someone is injured
Viv to chip in just to annoy opposition

ABDV is stand in wk for Gilly

Gilly Sanath Viv Virat ABDV to belt out opposition in first 35 overs. Five of the very best bowler killers in history.
Shakib Freddie Hadlee Akram to go all out in the last 15. All handy hitters who can score big when needed.

Great fielding team as well with Viv Virat and ABDV in the inner circle and Hadlee in the deep

This is brilliant - only change I will make is put Buttler instead of Flintoff as the team has enough bowling with Jaya in there.

Eyes not spreadsheets
If you want Flintoff in any ODI role it has to be as a top 5 batsman or his effectiveness is pretty much nil.

Some interesting combos out there. So I will have a second go at the XI -

Jayasurya - SL
Gilchrist - Aus
Kohli - Ind
ABD - SA
Viv - WI
Buttler - Eng
Shakib - Ban
Akram - Pak
Streak - Zim
Rashid - Afg
Shane Bond - NZ

I get the point you are trying to put across, but Morgan and Buttler doesn't work for this thread.

Six bowling options (plus Viv). That top three would be decent to watch if it went off.

I reckon this side is the best (Hadlee at 10!) but add a spinner - Saqlain Mustaq for Wasim (or option b - Warne for McGrath). I would be tempted to pick NIck Knight instead of Bairstow too.
