Although in twenty years time we could be talking about Harmison and Tremlett - they'll go a long way together IMHO.
This gets my vote for the biggest stretch in the history of CW. Harmison and Tremlett, an up and down seamer with an average of 28 and a guy who hasn't played a test, destined to be the greatest ever opening pair. :p

Anyway, my vote would probably be for Holding/Roberts, but Lillee/Thomson and Wasim/Waqar aren't far behind. We were blessed in the 90s to not only have the Ws but also McGrath/Gillespie, Ambrose/Walsh and Donald/Pollock.

Hmm Gillespie. Great bowler but doesn't sound quite right in the company you put him with above IMO faaip.

Gillespie at his best was certainly as good as Walsh, in my opinion. Significantly better than Waqar after his injuries.

Anyway, I'm not saying the four pairs are all equal, I'm saying that in the 90s we had 4 great opening pairs all at the same time.

Very mean with the new ball, when batsman did not wear helmets. Davidson ranked them No. 4 & 8 on his top 10 list of fast bowlers. Here is the list. (1963)

1 Lindwall
2. Miller
3 Trueman
4 Adcock
5 Statham
6 Tyson
7 Hall
8 Heine
9 McKenzie
10 Meckiff

Shoaib is the most overated cricketer of all time. Why is he in the world eleven squad of fourteen. Ntini would be a much better option. He will always bowl unlike Shoaib who bowls when he feels like. He was an absolute disgrase when Pakistan came to Australia.

Wasim & Waqar, Pollock & Donald, Curtly & Courtney, Lillee & Thommo and any pair from the old West Indian pacey greats really.

Nissar and Amar Singh both played for India and many years before the idea os Pakistan was born.

PS I am assuming you think Nissar was a Pakistani bowler.
