It is interesting how some people have immediately jumped on the flintoff bandwagon here and proclaimed he isnt a chucker.......while in the same vein they criticise Murali..
If you take another read you might realize I haven't "proclaimed Flintoff isn't a chucker".. Merely said that if bowlers like Murali and Kirtley can play international cricket, Flintoff can,.,

isnt roebuck an australian commentator?
No. If you listened to him on ABC Radio, whom he commentates for every Australia summer, I'm sure you'd be able to detect his English accent. He does, however, write for the Fairfax papers in Australia, just as his articles appear in many other papers worldwide.

Exactly, he uses his wrist to get more spped on the ball not his elbow. BTW, did Kirtley get cleared because it is truly horrific, his action. Sussex TV highlights watch any of the other teams highlights and you will find that his arm bend about 30 degrees. That surely not legal
30 degrees? did you use your super slow motion vision with built in angle worker-outer to give us this scientific conclusion?

Suggestions that your correspondent nurses some particular grievance against Englishmen are as wide of the mark as Devon Malcolm's most speculative delivery.
That made me laugh, he slates England at least 3 times in that column and has the balls to claim this?

clearly a bitter **** ****.

of course, Flintoff chucks. Everyone except Sarwan chuck, remember?
By the old false ideals, indeed (or rather, Sarwan is the only one not to have been noticed chucking).
By our new realistic ideals, there are many, many bowlers who don't chuck. :)

Harmison clearly has hyper-extension. his arm goes backwards and he cannot do anything about it due to the speed of his arm so it is completely involuntary. Someone like Kirtley and Shabbir Ahmed seem to bend their arms intentionally.
Certainly Kirtley doesn't bend his arm intentionally, some angles make it look like he might do, but if you check from side-on you'll see the bend is entirely caused by force of motion, backwards, not forwards.
As for Shabbir, as far as I'm aware no-one's ever mentioned the hyper-extension with him (might be wrong), it's just been optical-illusion. Quite a definate one, of course - I've watched him lots in the last few weeks and there's no doubt he looks hugely dodgy.
He was cleared once - hopefully he'll soon be checked again and if there is a fault this time it'll be corrected.
I dont see anything wrong with Hoggard's action
No, nor does anyone.
But if you look deep enough, like any bowler (except Sarwan) you'll see violation of the old ideals.
With Flintoff the violation of the old ideals is a little more apparent than with most, but it's still within the new, realistic ideals, so there's no problem.

Funnily enough yes. You try it yourself

Really, how'd you manage that?
I haven't seen the Sussex TV footage, so I don't know how good the stuff is.
And if so... I'm astonished he's got away with it, and equally astonished that he's never done anything of the sort when I've had the chance to watch.

we'll have to see Flintoffs angle of flexion to determine whether he chucks or not according to the new rules. so let's not jump to conclusions.

question: they allow flextion of 15 degrees now right? but wot if the bowler keels his arm constantly at lets say 25 degrees, is taht allowed?...the nit pickiness of cricket now! i say let the bowlers chuck then we can see speeds of 120 mph...and batsmen will only get better...

(please dont take this too seriously)

By coincidence, Flintoff was picked as one of the bowlers to come under closer examination by the ICC during the last ICC throphy, and they (ICC) said there was absolutey nothing wrong with his action.
