thats pretty much spot on in my opinion, although why batty is batting blow kabir is anyones guess. and read should be the keeper, otherwise that looks about right to me.

Both have FC averages around 19-20, so thery are interchangable.

Why's Batty there?

Swann's ahead of him in the pecking order now.

Why was Batty ahead of any one else in the first time?
Cus he can bat a little bit, the only reason why he made England squad cus they couldn't find Fast Bowlers who could bat so they picked someone like him.

Can Stuart Law be picked yet? Or has he a while to wait?
Nah he can play for England A (2nd XI) if they want him to, so could Spearman BTW. he has to wait to play for England but.

everyone talks about the supposed depth of australian cricket, but i reckon these teams would give the Australian 2nd XI a fair fright.

I don`t think so. No way... Aussie dominance.

Maybe in a couple years but they still have better depth at present.

M Hussey
P Jaques
B Hogde
D Lehmann
M Beven
A Symonds
S Watson
B Haddin
B Lee
S Tait
S MacGill

That side or some slightly variations to it would be pretty hard to beat.

Have to agree there. There are some players in these sides who'd struggle a lot. Kabir Ali, Owais Shah, Collingwood in FC, Ed Smith...

i agree too, the team looks decent on paper but nowhere near that 2nd Aussie XI.

Yeah what happened to J Lewis, S Mahmood, G Keedy and G Swann
i put lewis and Swann in my team, i believe that Mohmood time will come some time and from this forum, i have gathered that Keedy gets an unfair adavntage from the pitch he usually bowls on.

i was tempted to put in Harrison as he seemed to appear alot as one of the leading wicket takers in the recent A' team Tours but i have never really seen him play so i can not put him there.

You're kidding - and I say that as a Surrey supporter. He can play a bit, but he's far too loose even for the county game, so I dread to think what test attacks would do with him. Last year he faded badly after a decent start to the season, and he did next to nothing for the A team a year and a bit ago IIRC.

I think it partly depends on what you're picking the team for; if you're simply picking the 2nd best English-qualified team I'd have Ramps, Caddy & Corky in there still. Maybe even Goughie too now he's announced that he'd play tests again "in an emergency".

If you're picking a team with an eye to prep for the real thing (ie tests) you really have to go with players the right side of 30.
