Emerging players Tournament 2011

With the amount of cricket we play, it would make more sense to have some specialists around, but of course, as the saying goes right now, it is more difficult to get out of the Indian team than to get in...
It is a good point. Specialists would help curb the issue of fatigue. It should also be where the game is going - ODI and Test cricket are such different games, that it should be the case that below the 'greats' (Tendulkar, Kallis, etc), there should be quite a variation (not a total variation, of course) in the composition of starting XIs.

Regardless, with four to win, surely you play it out until the end of the overs?

Strikes me as "look at me, I'm the umpire".
Doesn't matter too much, this series is not about the results, it is about the individual performances.

I'd say it's about learning how to win cricket matches as well. After all, that's the aim of the game. How to go about a run-chase is one of the least mastered arts in the game.

Reeza Hendricks has scored 406 runs in his last two innings and yet to be dismissed. Fair effort that.

Not good for our spin stocks when the part timer is the best of the lot. Hopefully Maxwell keeps on going with this innings.

Menaria and Sourabh Tiwary also scored centuries.

Didn't expect the 2 tiwary's Manoj and Sourabh to do well in Australia tbh. Both their techniques are a bit suspect.

In a way, the series has not been useful, because all the batsmen have done well which suggests either the conditions are easy or the bowlers are poor. Will be interesting to see who picks up wickets tomorrow.

 @ test player Michael Beer struggling. Guess the Aussies have play Lyon in SL after all.

Btw, are the Aussies playing their best county players in here? Because if they are I'm really worried about the future of Australian cricket.

Most of them are emerging talent, they wouldn't be close to our B side let alone the A. Maddinson and Starc probably would be in the B side if we are picking a proper A team however both were in the A squad last time round.

AIS save another game. Good knocks by Carters, Maxwell and Armstrong. Would have liked Maxwell to convert one of his 50s into a 100, Armstrong sure has been unlucky not to be picked up this season, showed in this series he's more than capable with the bat.

International Coach
lol Beer, THAT IS SHOCKING
Townsville pitch is seamer friendly from all reports but yeah still pretty shocking figures for a guy who is supposed to play test cricket for Australia in a couple of weeks time.

Gotta say pretty ordinary AIS side, even if its emerging players that we are trying to give a run then guys like Boyce, Zampa, Lynn, Neser, Lyon, Richardson, Faulkner deserve to play ahead of these guys.

Apart from Maddinson and Starc nobody is even close to international pedigree in this current side, likes of Carters, Keath, Armstrong, Maxwell and Beaton are pretty good players in the making but when you compare the kind of players the other teams have come with then its hardly surprising that these guys are looking out of there depth.

Lastly just wanna ask how come in god's name is Beer at the age of 27 playing in an emerging players tournament.!?

Manoj Tiwary is another enigma. He's got more centuries than fifties in domestic FC cricket, but no century in limited-overs. He's reasonably experienced, and also good on the field, but his technique is also suspect- so is anybody's, especially the wicketkeepers'. He hasn't got much of a chance playing for India, but another solid season should see him in contention.

This No-hit tag is annoying. He's a much better player than that, and he's good across formats. While he's become famous in IPL, he's had a good record in Ranji as well. Then again, Ian Chappell, who tore apart the Indian team and setup this week, said Rohit Sharma is the best player of short-pitched bowling, and should have been in the side. That's open to debate, but then, we've seen Parthiv, Jadeja, Dinesh Karthik, Saha and Naman Ojha play as batsmen.

Rohit has a very good Ranji record. Should definitely be in Test contention above Raina and Yuvraj (though his record is underestimated a lot of the time).
