Do you think that India are helping kill the game?

Ther series has NOT been cancelled and has been postponed due to busy schedules and will be played at a later dat that suites both countries.
The line between a cancellation and a postponement is blurry to say the least. Nice spin from CSA though.

A facebook update from CSA revealed that the press got this one wrong....

In other words - canceled. A later date won't be until after the WC, which means, it's been canceled.

Indeed. Maybe someone in the ICC with a heart (a former player) can organise a meeting or something with the big cats, to decide to revamp the ICC into a real governing body somehow. But for now the bureaucracy continues...
Haha, no one in the ICC has that type of legal power. And no board is going to give up autonomy. Not your evil BCCI, and not ECB and not CA and not CSA.

Indeed. The whole problem got a deep historical roots since when the MCC used to be the big cats. This IPL problem was seen before when the Packer saga erupted, thats when things should have changed. Now its so tangled up.

Some compromise needs to made if a "Full governing body" cant be formed. Since the BCCI power & influence needs to scalled down drastically.

There is another chance too. We have all seen the BCCI cashing in on a particular format whenever the side is good at it like ODIs an T20s. Now that they are at the top of the Test table, we might see a sudden rush of test matches being played by these guys. Should wait and see what happens now tbh. Could go either way, continued indifference or a ****load of tests scheduled in an adrenaline rush.
India ask South Africa to play two Tests | South Africa Cricket News | Cricinfo.com

I TOLD YOU SO!!!

There goes the BCCI again, bullying the other countries into playing more T20. First it was the extra test in NZ, now its 2 against SA. Its time we recast the ICC aussie style and put an end to this monopolostic arm twisting. India are killing the game.

The newest allegation is that BCCI is going to prepare "ridiculous" wickets like Kanpur 2008 and ensure an Indian win and thereby cement its place at the top.

Frm that article:

"India's newly-acquired position atop the Test rankings was under threat because they were only scheduled to play two Tests in the next 11 months, which explains its sudden interest in playing more Tests. Cricket South Africa has invariably tried to ensure they don't land on the wrong side of the BCCI, so it is likely India will get its wish and Test cricket will have a stellar showdown to look forward to."

Damn if you, damn if u dont. Wish sumone tld this guy India played extra test in NZ.

Sorry one more rant:

Please see the table in this article -> India's spell at the top not in their hands | Cricket Features | India v Sri Lanka 2009/10 | Cricinfo.com

Team Matches Points Rating
India 32 3957 124
South Africa 30 3672 122
Australia 31 3600 116
Sri Lanka 31 3574 115
England 39 4102 105
Pakistan 17 1424 84
New Zealand 25 2001 80
West Indies 25 1910 76
Bangladesh 19 255 13

According to that India has played 32 test matches in the ranking period, which is second only to England's 39. How come a nation which is supposedly killing test cricket by scheduling less matches play that many number of tests even more than Australia or South Africa?

Who made this allegation? Haven't heard it.

And second, they should prepare tracks like Kanpur whether they it is #1 vs #2 or #7 vs #8. That was a good Test match on a good Test match wicket.

Yeah now what? Earlier it was the flat pitches now it is test matches. BCCI is no angel, but the effort it is taking to popularise the game is unmatched in history.
No, T20 would have gained popularity without the BCCI & IPL. It was already huge in England since 2003 & the West Indian public with the Standford T20 in 2006 & 2007, where already in the groove.

However those two nations hardly make up even 5-10% of the total cricketing public. BCCI itself hardly knew about T20 cricket till WT20C 07 was organised.

And I also referred to the amount of money spent on training/ development/ domestic setup/pensions etc all this BCCI is unmatched.

So?.

BCCI itself hardly knew about T20 cricket till WT20C 07 was organised.
In past debates & research i heard the IPL franchise was being formulated by former BCCI head Jagmohan Dalmiya (spell check) & Modu before the T20 WC in 2007.

And I also referred to the amount of money spent on training/ development/ domestic setup/pensions etc all this BCCI is unmatched.
In India probably. Not around to the other cricket nations.
