You couldn't pick him anyway. He took heaps more wickets than both Kapil and Mitch.
Pothas had only picked batsmen so all bowlers were fair game.

I was confused between a couple of Aussies, a Pakistani and a Kiwi to be the 3rd fast bowler but Croft performed much better and took 4.5 wickets a game despite having Marshall, Garner, Holding in the team.
