Lillee and Roberts popularized fast bowling in the 70s but I would argue Imran as a bowler had more direct impact when it comes to mastering reverse swing and starting a pace revolution in Pakistan.
Agreed. Unfortunately, as is the case with Warne, cricket back in the day was very Anglo centric (England/Australia). Which is fair, seeing that they pretty much developed and popularized the sport.
Lillee did impart the ability to cut the ball etc to other bowlers of his generation , but that is no more impactful than what Imran (and Safraz) did with Pakistani bowlers and worldwide fast bowlers in general. Reverse swing, is probably the most revolutionary tool added to bowling since the googly.

Also, I am not sure some posters appreciate the degree to which Imran impacted fast bowling in the subcontinent. Before Imran's breakthrough 12 wickets in Australia in 1976, the idea of a high pace quality fast bowler coming from this region was almost seen as a biological impossibility. Nobody would want to aspire to bowl fast on wickets of baked mud. Yet from the 80s onwards, street cricket in Pakistan was dominated by kids trying to bowl high pace. Wasim, Waqar and Shoaib all wanted to be the next Imran.

Though to be fair, Imran was influenced to want to become a fast bowler rather than a medium pacer after watching Lillee. His transformation is one of cricket's great stories IMO.

Lindwall was probably better than trueman, larwood is the one after whom most judge fast bowlers by,had better bouncer than Marshall+was unquestionably one of the fastest of all time and is still one of the immortal fast bowlers to have ever lived.Larwood still has higher aura/reputation than any fast bowler ,till dk lillee era.
Why do you talk like a boomer but have the punctuation of a Gen Z?

What sparked the tapeball revolution in Pakistan?

Not sure. I remember using tapeball im street cricket because you can get the bowl to swing more and create a big seam compared to a regular tennis ball.
Interesting, when I was growing up, we'd taped the rubber balls and hardly the tennis ones....when that **** hits you on the shin--- oucccchhhhh!
